1. Blower Fan Plastic failed and started making noise. 2. Purchased replacement blower fan and attempted to install. 3. Couldn't get the fan off the motor so purchased another motor. 4. Installed wrong motor P/N 279827 Needed P/N 279787 5. Started dryer to check if it was working. Ran for a few seconds and motor started smoking and cut off. 6. Took old motor and got the fan off. 7. Installed original motor. 8. Tried to start dryer but the motor relay clicks and dryer just beeps. 9.Called repairman - he said the dryer was receiving the proper voltage at the motor but the motor wouldn't start. 10. Ordered the correct new motor P/N 279787 11. Installed motor 12.Tried to start dryer but the motor relay clicks and dryer just beeps. 13. Checked belt switch it is operating correctly.
If this unit has a timer it could be faulty. Make sure with the schematic in hand that all the wires are in the right spots on the motor. I did not post the model number so I am not sure what model you have but looks like a Whirlpool part number. If motor was running before you attempted to remove blade, this is a good one. If the motor relay is clicking but not turning that is almost like power is not were it should be. You can contact me here or reply to FIXYA with a response. these bearings are dry plastic pads if i am, correct, these can be lubricated very slightly with a little silicone grease where they are rubbing on when the drum rotates
if you cant use silicone grease, more or less any will do that is thick and doesn't smell, only use a very small amount so it doesn't go on the clothes
a very small amount is enough to stop the pad being dry but not enough to see? almost like wipe it on then wipe it off,
also lubricate the the pulley wheel on the belt tensioner (the little small wheel at the bottom if it has one

I would change out the igniter, When they start failing hey will glow but not draw enough amps to open the gas switch / valve.

Make sure you perform all checks with the dryer UNPLUGGED.
Double check the thermal fuse just to be sure. It will be located on the air blower housing and should be a white plastic component with two wires connected to it. It should read a short if good. I could be mistaken, but I believe the drum light will still come on with the thermal fuse blown. If I led you astray in my write up, I do apologize. All dryers are not configured the same.
If the thermal fuse is good, pull the connector from the drive motor and inspect it. I have found where these connectors look like they are tight, but actually aren't, causing the connector and wires to burn. If the connector checks good, you have a couple of options. You could have a defective motor. Take a resistance check across the blue wire and violet wire on the motor. This should be your start winding. Resistance should be between 2.4 to 3.8 ohms. If it reads anything higher than 4 ohms, it's recommended that you replace it. If the motor is okay you may have a defective belt switch and/or centrifugal switch. I'm not sure how your dryer is configured. I will need the COMPLETE model number (located around the door opening) to be sure.
Before I can give you further advice about troubleshooting or replacing parts, I need to be sure of what you find. Please post back and let me know.

blade turns clockwise to remove..but ck door switch first also are you referring to small white fuse on blower housing or the one on element ..the one on blower will cause it not to run other heat only..also possible timer contacts ..motors are least likely to cause problems ..if unable to remove fan will need to be broken o0ff to remove

Hold the shaft of the motor while you turn it. it may also have left hand threads.
