Recently I had my Sony FWD50PX2/S 50 in. Plasma Television stop working. It was on and it suddenly started a clickin sound (center of the inside of the tv) the picture intially would flash with the clicking sound few times and then it stopped. The light was green till it stopped clicking and then turned red. Pushing the on button did not turn the tv on or the light green on. When I unplugged the tv and replugged it would start making the same clicking sound(indicator light green) like it wanted to go on, till it stopped (indicator light red). This would happen everytime I unplug unit and replug. It would click 10 times and then go off. This the second unit and same model. The first one is in the shop for the same thing. Repairman has not identify the real problem but has hinted to the screen. Both models are 2005. My power source is 120V 60Hz Could this be a power supply problem in the tv
It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.
I had this same exact issue yesterday. I own the same TV model and here is what SONY had me do to get the picture back. Ultimately the picture comes back, but it will be very dim and needs repair. Most likely a power supply issue. Try these steps:
-Press power off or leave with standby light on for 5 minutes (wait the full 5 minutes)
-Unplug TV / Press top buttons 5 times each to remove static from system boards (yes, each button 5 times each)
-Wait one full minute and plug TV in and press power on
