Sabbath display makes oven inoperable

This is from the Maytag website it explains how to cancel the sabbath mode;

To cancel the Sabbath Mode:
Press the Clock pad for three seconds.
Or
After 72 hours, the Sabbath Mode will end.

• "SAb" will flash for five seconds.
• The time of day will return to the display.

NOTES:

• Sabbath Mode can be turned on at any time with or without the oven on.
• Sabbath Mode cannot be turned on if the keypads are locked out or when the door is locked.
• Most prompts and messages and all beeps are deactivated when Sabbath Mode is active.
• If the oven is baking when Sabbath Mode is set, the Bake icon will go out at the end of the baking cycle. There will be no audible beeps.
• If the oven light is desired while in Sabbath Mode, it must be turned on before the Sabbath Mode is started.
• When the Sabbath Mode is started, the temperature display will immediately show the set temperature, rather than the actual oven cavity temperature. No preheat beep will sound.
• The self-clean cycle and automatic door lock do not operate during the Sabbath Mode.
• Pressing the Cancel pad will cancel a Bake cycle, however the control will stay in the Sabbath Mode.
• If power fails, the oven will power up in Sabbath Mode with 72 hours remaining and no cycle active.

Your range has somehow been set in "sabbath" mode ( for the Jewish calendar I think...not the metal band, lol ) If you have the owners manual turn to the section referring to this an it should instruct how to reverse the setting.

All ranges do it somewhat differently, so I can't say exactly how on yours. This example is generic, hopefully it works. If you are unsuccessful let me know the exact model number and I'll see if I can locate it.
Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to activate Sabbath mode. Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to disable Sabbath mode.
Oven must be in BAKE mode before enabling SABBATH. "SAb" displays and flashes for 5 seconds. All pad inputs are disabled except for CANCEL and CLOCK pads.

This mode disables the normal 12 hour shutoff to allow operation of the bake mode for a maximum of 72 hours.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Holding the clock button puts it into sabbath mode.For all the info if you go to maytag website you can put in your model number and look at the owners manual.

It sounds like the unit has been placed in "sabbath" mode somehow, hence the display showing the digital abbreviation for sabbath "5A6".

If you have you owners manual it should instruct you how to disable it, but if you don't have it you will need to confirm the make/brand name is a Maytag and model number and I'll see what I can find.

To
provide sabbath feature (or to cancel this setting):
1. Push the PREHEAT pad and set the oven
temperature to 500°F/260°C or more using the UP
ARROW pad.
2. Push the PREHEAT pad within the next 2 seconds
for 3-4 seconds. A beep sounds and a number
appears in red to the right of the display. For the
conversion, "3" must be displayed. If another number
is displayed, push the PREHEAT pad and select
"3".
3. Push the UP or DOWN ARROW pad to change
from 12 hour to 9999 in the display, for no 12 hour
shut-off.
4. Push the CANCEL pad to confirm your choice.

It is in Sabbath mode, used for Jewish holidays. Anyway, hold the cancel button for 3-5 seconds and it should revert back to normal operating mode. It will still bake in Sabbath mode but will not display anything due to the laws regarding observation of the Sabbath

You might have a problem with the circuit breaker - reset it by pressing the switch ocated on he lower edge of the backguard (in Canadian models). There are several things that could cause the oven not to operate, but generally you would get a message on the display - "Lock", "Sabbath" etc. Just in case your display is damaged and that's why you don't see any message, try to press and hold the "cancel" and "cook and hold" pads for three seconds (to unlock the oven in case it is locked), and then check to see if the oven works. if not, repeat this procedure (to make sure that you didn't lock it just now), and then press and hold the "clock" pad for three seconds (to unlock the oven in case it is in "sabbath mode"). If it still doesn't work, you might need to replace a fuse.
