Cd software disc will not load on to my computer. Isn't being recognized

If in case the cd was not recognized upon loading it to the computer you may do the following to check wether the cd is faulty or the cd drive.
  1. Verify that the correct disc (CD/DVD) is used when prompted to insert the disc.
  2. For programs on DVD, verify that the drive containing the DVD is a DVD drive and not a CD-ROM drive. Most DVD drives will have DVD printed on the front of the drive. For programs on DVD, consider the following:
  • DVD drives can read both DVD's and CD's.
  • CD-ROM drives can read only CD's.
  1. If multiple disc drives (e.g., CD-ROM and CD-RW, or DVD and DVD-RW, or CD-ROM and DVD-RW, etc.) exist on the computer that can read the disc (refer to the items under Step 2), insert the CD or DVD into the other drive and try the program again.
  2. If you are attempting to install a program and the installation does not begin after inserting the CD/DVD into the proper drive, refer to the program's instructions for the installation procedure.
  3. Clean the CD/DVD in the following manner:
  1. Place a small amount of nonabrasive liquid soap on the shiny side of the CD/DVD.
  2. Using your fingertips and warm water, gently rub the soap on the CD/DVD in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse the CD/DVD thoroughly and dry it using a clean, soft T-shirt or lint-free towel. (Do not use paper towels or tissue paper.)
  1. Try to use a different CD or DVD in the drive to see if that disc can be read.
  2. If possible, insert the problem CD or DVD into the DVD or CD drive of another computer to see if the issue persists.

Cannot read DVD but can CD?

Could be just a dirty lens. Try :-

1) Blowing some compressed air through it. You can get cans, may already have one.

2) Running a CD lens cleaner. Its practically the same mechanics.

After that, its taking it out and cleaning it.

CD/DVD Is Not Recognized
spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif Many times, after inserting a disc into the CD or DVD drive, the disc is not recognized by that drive. CD-read and DVD-read issues can be caused by many sources. Perform the procedures presented in this General Computer Advice article when troubleshooting CD-read and DVD-read issues.

Begin with the first procedure and continue through the list. Try using the CD or DVD after each procedure is completed. For any procedure that requires changing current system settings, record the original settings before completing the procedure.

When dvd is inserted, it is saying no disc

The first thing i would check is to make sure the back of the DVD isnt scratched or have fingerprints or other gunk on it. Using a soft cloth, or tolit paper you can rub some rubbing achoal on the back of the disk. Then dry it with the soft cloth. If that doesn't work go to your nearest retail store and by a dvd, or cd, disk cleaner.. All this is, is a disk with little brushes on the bottom of it. It spins inside your dvd player, brushes off any dust that might be sitting on the lazer lens thats keeping the dvd from loading..

Good Luck
And please rate me and leave some feed back on how i'm doing.

Irregular performance...

sounds to me like your laser is gone.
Some discs are harder to play than others as some are multilayed, check online as to whether it is suitable to use laser cleaners these are like discs with soft brushes attached, you can get them from pretty much any computing place, i wouldnt know whether its sensible to use on a DVD player, but couldnt hurt anymore eh?

NEC DVD-RW 16x DL

If you switched to a different brand of DVD's try using the brand you used before. DVD burners are tested with certain brands of DVD's and sometimes the brands that aren't on that list don't work.
