Just reloaded new ink cartridges. The printer doesn't have 'power' -- light is on power supply and scanning bed, but not on control panel. The print head is to the far right. I need to move it so I can remove the ink cartridges... have to ship the printer to Kodak. Since I just loaded new ink cartridges, I would prefer to keep them -- and I don't know if it will leak when I pack up the printer.

We had the same problem and tried all steps Customer Service suggested each time; after several calls, it was determined we had a defective printhead... Kodak sent a new printhead, new ink cartridges w/ an envelope to return the ones I was using.
Apparently it's a common problem with this model; especially the earlier ones. Have had NO problems since the printhead was replaced.
I would suggest if you have recurring problems (even after Customer Service directives), call and ask if you might have a defective printhead.

How do you install the update as the updater will not work until the fault has been cleared!

Go to the control panel and uninstall it. Don't just delete the program from windows explorer. Reinstall everything. It SHOULD work fine.

Surely you can turn the flow of ink down via your settings

you may try to clean the printhead and recalibrate the printer. if this will not correct the problem, you need to replace the printhead. I suggest contacting Kodak technical support to have a replacement printhead.
