Locked out of computer

I was putting a password on my Dell Inspiron 1545, with vista OS, to keep the grand kids out, and had to take a call. I told my best friend to enter the name I gave, and hit enter. Later, I found that I was locked out and the name I gave my friend to enter does not work. Friend either misunderstood me, misspelled it, or used special case characters, but I have tried every combo I can think of and nothing works. Friend has been trying to remember exacly how it was entered, but can't, since that was this morning and we are both at the age of mental distraction.. It was a simple name with two numbers at the end, and as far as we know, it was spelled the same as I would have spelled it, unless a wayward finger hit an extra character and it was not noticed..?? All that aside, I cannot use my better laptop now and had to dig out this old clunky one. Is it possible to unlock the thing or recover the original password or get in another way, so I do not have to put it into the PC shop for medical assistance? Help!

SOURCE: Keyboard Reset?

try To download the latest drivers for the keyboard that you are using, visit the following Microsoft hardware Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK

If the issue occurs again, connect the keyboard to a different computer. If the keyboard functions correctly on a different computer, the port to which the keyboard was connected on the original computer may be damaged. If this is the case, contact your computer manufacturer to inquire about how to repair or replace the damaged port.
If the keyboard does not function correctly on another computer, the keyboard may be defective. If this is the case, and the warranty on the keyboard is still valid, you can exchange the defective keyboard for a new keyboard.

good luck :)

SOURCE: it has told me to

Some computers will have the product key attached to the computer in the form of a sticker. This sticker will have the product key as well as verifying that the Windows you are installing is authentic.

Please check the case for this sticker and if found, you should be able to install Windows using this key.

I have dell inspiron 1545 ultimate & window 7 it was before vista. Now blue tooth is not working please help me out.

Upgrading your laptop OS from Vista to Win 7, you have to reinstall your Bluetooth drivers for Win 7 OS(ie x86bit or x64bit) for the Bluetooth to function properly.

Dell Inspiron 1545 download @ http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INSPIRON1545&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Under "Network" -> Select your correct Bluetooth drivers versions for your OS Win 7 (i.e. x86bit or x64bit) to install.

Hope it helps.

Upgraded my dell inspiron 1545 from vista to windows 7, now my web cam doesn't work nor will it let me install the original drivers? I've tried the root clean up and connecting a usb cable, no luck

I think the reason it wont let you install original drivers because they are probably just for Vista OS. You can try going to dell's web site and see is there driver download for it or who ever manufacturer is of your web cam. When you ran upgrade advisor it would have told you that web cam probably would have not worked and would have told you where to go for the driver if available.
