the only way to not get this code is to use the correct unlock pattern within 3 attempts. else you must wait about 15 minutes I think is about the time, a minimum wait time of 30 seconds and depending on how many times you've tried to unsuccesfully unlock it, up to 15 minutes

I fear a factory reset is your only option. But that's not much of an issue if you use Google backup as everything will be downloaded again when you first log back in to your google account.

someone might be trying to open unlock it before you did and tried too many pattern combination. it mights just be banned for couple of hours/min but you can try again later. too many attempts of wrong pattern/password can be interpreted as freud.
