Dial hello, my whirlpool wash machine is filling and draining at the same time without stopping. sometimes if you move the dial slightly, it will work again. the dial also sometimes stays in one place without cycling. thank you

I have a similar problem, I moved my washing machine to a differnet location and therefore changed the drain function. A friend told me you need to make sure your hose (the drain hose from the machine) goes above the washing machine before entering the sink (or if it goes straight to the drain).
So basically you can't just run the hose from the bottom of the washer in to a drain, it must first travel up and then back down. Makes sense once I took the time to think about it.
not sure if this is your problem...but maybe something to consider

Guest, you got it right but this is typically not a problem on whirlpools now because the drain exits at a higher level. however if its the older with drian exit at bottom then definately make sure it goes up then down to avoid gravity drain.
adjusting the dial to fix indicates a potential timer issue. is the drain pump running (spinning) while filling?

oL is an Overload error. Try running a cycle empty.

If oL (overloaded) appears in display, the load too large. If an overload is detected, the washer will drain any water and detergent in the washer. Remove several items and add HE detergent. Close lid and press START/PAUSE.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Wash machine sometimes gets stuck on rinse cycle & dryer not dry

Sounds like the drain hose for the washer is too far down in the stand pipe at the wall causing a siphon effect, try raising drain hose a little. The dryer sounds like the vent line from back of dryer too wall is pinched causing an air flow obstruction. Hope this helps.

When starting the washer, it occasionally will not fill

Check the drain hose. The open end of the pipe the hose drains into must be higher than the top of the washer's tub (usually 30 inches or so off the floor, minimum) or the water can siphon right out. The drain hose should not be a sealed connection to the drain pipe. Try to extend the drain pipe up to about 36 inches off the floor level.

Whirlpool filling and washing, not draining, rinsing or spinning

Check out your outlet filter, probable it is clogged. Clean this out and refit. Most cases when the drain or spin does not work, it is the filter. This is a suggestion.
