I've tried a couple new sets of batteries and still shows "bc" which if I remember right is dead batteries? Won't shoot just powers on or off. Any ideas, camera is around 13 years old and been flawless till now.
Back when I had my canon slr, (if i remember right) the BC lamp was actually for the battery grip - not necessarily the batteries.
SEE THIS WEBPAGE for more info on what im talking about.

Battery check: Battery level is displayed by the battery level indicator on the LCD panel. Battery level is indicated in one of four levels.
This is indicated by one of 4 pictures of a battery on the LCD.
In your case (not covered in the manual) BC may still be for Battery Cover.
Check the batteries are installed properly and the cover is serure.

also, if the flash is attached - check the battery level - as it may be reporting as low.
If there is no flash attached - the problem may be with the flash sensor.

unfortunately, don't think this applies to this camera, photos in link don't look anything like mine. Mine just has built in battery compartment that holds two batteries. Thanks for trying.
