My mother just bought a new laptop. I was really excited and turned one song from Youtube, but no sound. Then I downloaded League of Legends from the official website of the game and again- no sound. I had a song on my phone, which i putted on the laptop, and not a single alert sound. If you have any solutions or suggestions, please help!
Hi Scarlet,
There could be many possibilities for this. Since its a new Laptop, nothing could have gone wrong with Hardware or Software. But could be some configurations. Please let me know the following details.
What is the Operating system. If windows, do you see the speaker icon on the right side bottom of the screen. Check if its muted. Or increase the volume.
Hope this solution works

SOURCE: My Toshiba laptop keeps turning off randomly?
I had this problem for a LOONNGG time. I couldnt figure out what the heck was going on or why it was overheating. I almost resorted to buying a new computer, but thankfully I didnt. About 1am this morning it did it to me again. So i decided to clean the bottom and make sure it was clean. I cleaned it, and just out of curiousity, took apart the exhaust fan housing, and O. M. G. was there a TON of dust and junk in there. It took me about 45 minutes to clean it out thuroughly because I am not very computer savy when it comes to taking them apart and putting them back together correctly. But I would be my paycheck that if you took of your exaust fan housing, and then the individual covers for the fan and inspected the fans, and the exhaust ports themselves, you will find your problem. Since i cleaned it, it hasnt turned off once and the fans hardly run at all! I hope this helps guys!

In my opinion, your Acer took a static shock.
This worked once. Take the battery out. Unplug the charger.
Hold the power button down for one minute.
Do not replace the battery but boot the laptop with the charger only.
Replace the battery later. This worked for me for a year, then it did it again.
You will find that the PCMCIA card is the only thing that will work.
Use a external usb keyboard and an extra usb mouse and you will be able
to use the laptop, albeit handicapped.
I used my laptop this way for months and one day it just came back all by itself.

I will assume your Operating system being XP Professional.
Please attempt download and install of following driver...
