We have used this cordless trimmer for 3 years with no problems. Now it is showing the green light that the battery is fully charged, but nothing happens when I press the safety switch and then the trigger.

It's a microswitch made by Honeywell that costs about 5 bucks plus shipping.
The attached file has the schematic and parts list.
The CST2000 is well worth spending a few bucks to keep it going. Finding a local B&D authorized service center near you will even save you the shipping as they can order it for you.
Every other component is pretty dependable- the motor, battery, wiring, charging system, spool system- all built to last.
Only down side is you really only get 20 to 25 minutes of hard weedwhacking before you need to recharge. Of course, it's time for a cold beer in the pool by then.
Mine had the same issue. turned out that the wiring at the cutting head was contacting the the metal of the motor. Solution: open casing around string head and tape off the exposed wire sections.
The same thing is happening with my CST1000. ToolBarn used to have schematics for this model CST1000 but now all the CST1000's have a different design..

Mine has the identical issue. It lasted about two summers (maybe 20 hours total). The operator's manual said to leave the unit plugged in at all times when not using it; I'm thinking that's exactly what caused it's early demise. I know from experience that leaving a laptop computer plugged in constantly will also trash a battery pack over a period of time :(

I have the same problem. Battery shows fully charged at the charger, squeeze the two switches and nothing happens. There is power at the motor when I press the switches. Can i test for a bad motor?
