I have a Xelos SL, bought in2005. I've recently gone on to Freesat with a Humax Foxsat-HDR receiver. When linked with a HDMI/DVI cable I get a ''no signal'' message. Why is this?

  • brianbettney Mar 18, 2009

The HDMI/DVI cable is OK. I've managed to get a
HD signal using an HDMI/components converter box, but the resulting picture is not as good as Freeview!

  • brianbettney Mar 18, 2009

The problem remains - no signal via HDMI/DVI input. Could it be something to do with HDCP?

Check the Video settings, ensure that resolution on Sat box settings is the maximum supported by your TV.
If there is frequency setting, ensure it is set up the same as TV.
Check also PAL-Secam settings, depending on your zone.

Also unplug both units, tv and sat box and connect back the power cords with HDMI already connected, this should help the TV and box detecting HDMI connection.

Why does my Humax Foxsat HDR tune to stations OK sound OK but no picture just a green screen. Any suggestions?. Worked OK till about a week ago.

This is sometimes due to the PVR not communicating properly with the TV. Try turning the TV on before the Humax.

Not receiving BBC or ITV iplayer

I don't know this device but it maybe set to WiFi when you are on Ethrenet cable. Go into it's settings and make sure it's set to Ethernet not WiFi and DHCP for it's IP address.

Humax Freesat was working fine then lost signal and now is not reognising postcode. We have unplugged/repluged, checked all cables (all OK) and tried to restart but as it is now not recognising postcode...

This can happen if the dish is slightly misaligned. I believe the postcode tables are read from a satellite which is about 0.3 degrees away from the Astra satellites. If your dish is slightly misaligned it may not be able to receive it correctly, also the following is the standard procedure which you've probably already been through, but I hope it helps:

1. Freesat Detection Fails / Invalid Postcode
  • Unplug the Foxsat-HDR from the mains and unplug the cable from your dish which is connected to the LNB IN
    connection.
  • Check that the "F-type" connector is firmly on the end of the cable.
  • Power on the and follow the Installation Wizard again.
2. If still not Detecting the signal or verifying postcode
  • Select NEXT through the Installation Wizard and then FINISH at the end.
  • Press the OK button to enter the SETUP menu and Select Manual Tune.
  • Select the following Transponder (11428 H 27500 A) from the list of Transponders.
  • Check that you are receiving stable levels for both Signal Strength & Signal Quality or >50%.
  • If you are not receiving sufficient Signal on this Transponder then you may require an installer to check your
Dish Alignment, LNB, cabling, or connectors.

How do I update my humax box?

Hello
You have to getin to this site for a software update to your Humax Foxsat.
From ite main Menu, come to "Edit Channels" window and select the third option 'Software Update" and 'OK".
# When there is no new software to update, a popup will appear
# Software updates for products will be detected using the Automatic Update option

OTA - Over the Air Software Updates will be broadcast via satellite for the product when new updates are

available. Humax reserves the right for deciding when the software updates will be released.
Follow below to ensure that you receive the OTA Software Updates when they are released:

2* The signal strength and quality are at a high level; if you are experiencing problems with the signal

then please do not continue with the download.

cause the product not to operate.

I am about to receive an LG32LF4700 Freesat/HD TV If I disconnect the SKY Box and connect the TV direct to the Dish cable will I receive Freesat HD channels. Also can I connect an extra bedroom TV into the...

Yes you can split the signal out from the back of the Freesat/HD (not the TV)to the second TV.
Look what outputs are on the Freesat box - the RF (standard cable) output should go to the 2nd TV (TV set to CH3) and the a/v cables,HDMI or DVI cable should go to the new TV - Note:To receive HD the output from the Freesat should be either HDMI,DVI or Composite output (RGB video jacks) with red White for audio. If you have HDMI this is best - it also provides audio.
