I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ30 that suddenly stopped working. It's as if the power switch is defective. I didn't drop it, in fact, I had used it within the 5 minutes previous and it was ok. Both of my batteries have a full charge and still no luck.
First to get it sple manually if it has minor problem.remove battery and memory card.also clean internally if any dust internally.but if the same problem then its definately the power switch problem.the reparing cost of the switch will be near to $10.and its worth getting it repaired.

Yes the power switch needs replacement.its actually soldered inside on the board.but when it gets loose by pressing the switch hard it gets loose.or due to any othewr common reason.just get the switch replaced at any local repair center.it will work.
The machine must be disassembled to test power switc contacts, battery contacts, and also internal controller board.
Try first starting the camera with no memory card and no battery inside.
Inspect the battery slot and see if in there there is oxide or a bad connector.
If that does not work then there is an internal fault, and the camera must be disassembled to test contacts to switch, to battery and main board and connectors.
Often the problem happens because the ribbon cable that gives power to main board is damaged or out of place, here is how it looks like.
The disassemblage should be done by an expert, as there is an high risk to damage the camera.
Do not forget to evaluate the solution afterward.
If you decide to do it yourself, then buy the full service manual with complete schematics and disassembly diagrams.
You can purchase the manual here for $ 7.99 : https://www.completeservicemanuals.com/p...">Lumix DMC-FZ30 Service Manual
Also a correction to an imprecision posted by somebody else, on your Lumix the switch is not " soldered inside on the board" bit fixed to the chassis.

Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, Does this camera have a warantee? if so use it but if not I suggest you take it apart and see if there is a short circut or possibly a loose wire near the battery compartment. I hope this helps.
Remove memory card then try also refix batery and clean dust form it.
