The player's battery is recharged while the player is connected to a running computer. It takes about 4 hours to fully recharge.
While the player is connected to the computer, do not turn on, restart, wake up from sleep mode or shut down the computer. Doing so may cause the player to malfunction. Disconnect the player from the computer before performing any of the above functions to the computer.

My Sony Walkman MP3 Player NWZ-B142F not visible on my desktop when connected through usb. But it shows as it is getting charged

Hello,

When your MP3 is connected to the PC.
Click start -> Right-click 'My Computer' -> Properties -> Device Manager and your MP3 may show up with a yellow exclamation mark next to it on this window. Right click it and select 'Update Drivers'. Click next, Tick the option 'Let me choose driver...' then choose USB Mass Storage Device and click next and it should work.

Other than that try opening Windows Media Player, if you don't have it installed you can download it here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player

It might show up in there.

Sony NWZB135F not reconized by computer

Hi!

No drivers are required to connect the Walkman to a Computer. Please make sure that the USB ports to which the Walkman is being connected is properly functioning. Next, press and hold the Reset button on the Walkman for 30 seconds.

Then, connect the Walkman to the Computer and check if it's being recognized. If not then open Device Manager window then check if there is any exclamation mark visible under any category specifially under "portable devices" or "Disk drives" category. If there is any exclamation mark visible beside any devices under any category, please right click on it and click Uninstall. After uninstalling all the devices with exclamation mark, please restart the Computer. After restarting the Computer with the Walkman should be recognized by the Computer.

Please follow the steps given below to open device manager:

Please press the Windows logo on the Keyboard and then press the "R" key while holding down the Windows logo key to open the Run dialog box. Then, please type "devmgmt.msc" in the Run dialog box and click OK to open the Device Manager window.

Performing all the above steps should make the Walkman work with the Computer.

Mp3

if it doesn't sync, don't worry just open the folder where the music files are stored on your computer, connect your Sony Walkman to your computer and highlight the music files you want to add to the Walkman and select (copy these files) a windows will open for you to select the place you want to copy to, select your mp3 player and click on copy to copy the selected music to your Walkman

NOTE: if you Sony Walkman has a specific folder for music files, you need to move the songs you copied from your hard drive's music folder to the music folder on your mp3 player for the player to recognize the songs in order to play.
