Check the power cable. If it uses a power brick style assembly (like a laptop) it may need to be replaced. Some power bricks can break a wire at the base of the brick just enough that it causes a short in the system and shuts down the power flow.

    How old is the monitor?

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2009

Unless you can do component level diagnostics, there isn't much that is user serviceable besides the cables, which often times a short in a power supply can cause funny operations. That model has a 3 year warranty so I would just call viewsonic and have them replace it.

My monitor shows nothing but a white screen

This is typically a sign of a video card that is not working right. The other possibility with ViewSonic is that the monitor went bad. MNy best advice is find someone with a known working computer and hook the monitor up and see if it works or not. That way, you can determine if it is the monitor or the computer. Also, the VX2255 may be under warranty. A visit to viewsonic.com will help you determine if they can repair/replace (if your test finds the screen to be bad.) Be sure to un plug the monitor from the wall; wait a moment, and plug back in to determine if a power blip may have caused an issue too.

Best of luck.

I have viewsonic 17inches 1703wb model and need installation drivers

You need drivers for your Graphics Card.Your monitor has nothing to do with that. You just plug the cable after you have installed the right graphic's card drivers and you ready to play.

Good Luck.

Screen went black

Swap monitor connections to determine if one of the monitors is not working.
If one is not working you probably have an internal problem. If power led responds to the off-on button but no picture is seen, the inverter has likely blown a fuse. Replace the fuse and resolder the leads on all 6 inverter transformers or the fuse might blow again.
