PUK Code

PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. This is a unique eight-digit code specific to your SIM card. This is required when the PIN number to unlock your mobile phone is entered incorrectly 3 times. You are then given 10 attempts to enter your PUK code. If an incorrect PUK code is entered after the 10th attempt, you will block your SIM card permanently and will require a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider.
PUK codes can be obtained through the following ways -
The PUK code is in your SIM card documentation Starter Pack. If you do not have this then -
Please contact your phone service provider.
Your cell phone service provider can give you the PUK code once you give them your account details and they have confirmed your identity.
For details to obtain the PUK code for the SIM card, please click on this link and follow my instructions. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5705889-puk_code

PUK means "personal unlocking key" .

The PUK code is asked if you enter a wrong pin 3 times.

The PUK code is a code associated with the SIM card and not with the phonelb_icon1.png.

You have only two ways to get rid of the PUK code. Either you replace the SIM card , or you call phone providerlb_icon1.png that issued the sim cadr (eg. At&T, Virgin, Tmobile , Vodafone, Telecom etc.)

You need to call the phone company that released the SIM card, they can retrieve the PUK code from a databaseicon1.png for free.

In your case you need to contact your SIMicon1.png card provider technical support to unlock the SIM.

The PIN and PUK are related to the SIM card, not to the phone.

If you replace the SIM card with a different one, then the phone will not ask for the PUK anymore

Unblock a sim without PUK

A Personal Unblocking Key (PUK Code) is a unique number that's used to unlock the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM Card) for your phone. The SIM Card contains all the account details your phone needs to make and receive calls---including generated passwords (PIN Codes.) If you forget or loose that password, you can use the PUK Code to unlock the SIM Card. You will be prompted for the PUK Code if you enter the PIN Code incorrectly three times on your phone. You can get your PUK Code from your carrier. it is not possible to unblock the sim without your puk.

Why does the new pin code request comes after the PUK code request?

This resets the pin code on the SIM card. I suggest you take a note of the pin code and keep it in a safe place. If you forget the SIM pin code then you need the PUK code again to unlock the SIM card.
Also keep the PUK code in a safe place with the SIM card pin code.

Is there no other way to unlock the PUK code...apart from getting a new sim card?

hi,

You can locate your PUK usually it is included in your sim card kit when you purchase it. if you lost it already, this is the last thing we can do. Contact your operator customer care or visit them and ask for your PUK code and they are very glad to help you. they will ask you several questions pertaining to your account to verify if you are the real owner. You can also get it on-line on most operator if they have this service at their website.

Once you receive your PUK code, you will need to enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code.

Don't forget to rate me OK! thanks...

Note: If you enter the wrong PUK code 10 times in a row, your SIM card will be invalidated, and you will need to purchase a new SIM card. The phone will display the following error: "PUK blocked call operator."

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you will need to get a PUK code from your SIM card Customer Care.

Don't forget to rate me OK! thanks...

regards,

John
