    ok, connect your internet connection to your modem

    Next, connnect The modem to the Router (via ethernet Cable)

    Now connect all your devices to the router..........starting with the PC first........... There's probably a phone port for your fax machine......let me know if I'm wrong.....

The company received a major boost in 1995, when Microsoft released Windows 95 with built-in networking functions that expanded the market for its products. Linksys established its first U.S. retail channels with Fry's Electronics (1995) and Best Buy (1996).[5] In 1999, the company announced the first Fast Ethernet PCMCIA Card for notebook PCs. In 2000, it introduced the first 8-port router with SNMP and QoS, and in 2001 it shipped its millionth cable/DSL router.[5] By 2003, when the company was acquired by Cisco, it had 305 employees and revenues of more than $500 million.[4] That was also the sum paid by Cisco for the company.[6]

If you want to receive "incoming" telephone-calls:

ADSL modem <---> Linksys SPA <---> wrtu54g <---> wired computer

and Linksys SPA <--- telephone-line-1 --> telephone hand-set
and Linksys SPA <--- telephone-line-2 --> FAX machine

or Linksys SPA <-- telephone-line-1 --> mechanical telephone-splitter
with telephone-splitter --> hand-set
with telephone-splitter --> FAX

How can I get the router IP of my Linksys 2.4GHz broadband router?

The Linksys G router gives you both wired and wireless connections over a broadband Internet connect to create a local area network. The Linksys router is compatible with wireless G and B devices, through the 2.4-GHz wireless band. The wireless speed is at 54 megabytes per second and you can get 100 megabytes per second with a wired connection. You have to set up the wireless configuration on the Linksys before using it on your network.

Plug the router's power cable into an electrical outlet. Attach an Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the router. Connect the other end into your broadband modem. Connect your computer to the Linksys G using another Ethernet cable. This Ethernet cable can go into any of the wired router ports. Open your Internet browser. Type "192.168.1.1" in the address bar and hit "Enter." This is your router's IP address and the home of its Web configuration page. Click "Wireless." Click "Manual." Alter your SSID, also known as your network name. You can change this name to any value that you want. You can also change the wireless channel if you are in an area with many wireless connections that may interfere. Click "Save Changes." Click "Wireless Security." Choose an encryption method to encrypt your wireless transmissions. WPA or WPA2 are common security protocols you can use in wireless networks. Input a network key, also known as the network password. Click "Save Changes."

No connection between the router and the internet. There is connection from the computer to Linksys.

1.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

Need to add Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router with Linksys SPA 2102 phone adapter

your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.

What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM

hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.

if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.

Connecting laptops to wireless Router

Go into the admin portion of the router by typing the ip address in internet explorer. By default your router should by http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1

the default user id is admin

the default password is linksys or admin

go to the wireless section set the signal for mixed and assign an ID that your laptops can recognize when scanning.

By default your channel id should be 6. If the notebooks aren't communicating set the channel id to 6 on the network cards.

Once thats connected then you can work on your wep encyption.

Linksys will not allow any admin work on their routers performed unless a computer is on a wired connection. Only the wired computer can do the admin work.
