Try this in this order:

  1. Verify your aux on the DE675 is working with another analog audio source.
  2. Unplug the G5 -> optical -> DE675 and try playing itunes through the Extreme only into the DE675's aux.
  3. Optical digital audio output on the Mac is VERY fussy, so I'd stay off of the optical unless it's absolutely necessary.
  4. If you're finding that the Extreme is not putting out any sound at all, try this: Reset and update the firmware on the Extreme. Also, make sure your Mac is very updated with the latest iTunes, operating system updates, etc.

I'm having trouble finding a reliable software to download that will enable me to play youtube/slacker/pandora (non- itunes music) on my Mac and listen through my stereo using my Airport Express,...

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya community.

Please try download and Install MacTube Player to play Youtube video or music... Let me know the result please...

Also to play the music in stereo receiver please follow below steps.

  1. Plug in the Apple AirPort Express into a power outlet near the stereo. Connect an audio cable from the audio port on the AirPort Express to the audio in port on your stereo. If your stereo has a different sized audio port than the 3.5 mm one on the AirPort Express, you will need to use an adapter to connect it.
  2. Plug in an ethernet cable from the AirPort Express to your computer or wireless router for a wired connection. For a wireless connection, connect the AirPort Express to your existing home network, or use a computer with a wireless network adapter to connect directly to the AirPort Express.
  3. Connect to the AirPort Express with your computer as directed in the manual to run the setup with the AirPort utility. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. Open iTunes and play the music to your stereo. There should be a pop up in the lower right corner after you run the Airport utility.
Let me know how far you could able to reach in a result. Our expert friends are here anytime to solve your issue.

Airport Extreme, Mac Cube and proposed Blue Ray /WIFI

Yes, you just need to connect the Airport to the modem. That way, the Airport will fetch the internet connection and distribute it to all your WiFi enabled device. You don't need any other hardware. You just need to configure the airport using your Mac computer.
Here's a quick setup guide from Apple.com:

Just got a new router (motorola) and airport will

Check your connections:

DSL-modem to telephone-jack (or cable-modem to cable-jack).

Ethernet cable from DSL-modem (or from cable-modem) to WAN port on your router.

Ethernet cable from LAN port on router to WAN port on your Airport.

Cut the power to the Airport, and then plug it back in, so that it restarts.

Internet connection drops within 5 min after (re)booting Airport

Speak with your internet provider, it sounds to me that the apple people didnt know what the problem was without getting down and dirtyy with it so they replaced it hoping for an easy fix. Seems to me that either the internet signal is being interrupted between the isp and your home .. or the motorola modem is having problems. I have never been a fan of motorola modems to begin with. Also the rentals u get from cable companies are used.. and typically subpar bottom of the line equipment that fail often. IF you think you will be using cable internet for years to come, purchase a linksys modem, as it is you are paying $3-5 a month for the rental of the modem. But I digress, speak with your isp and see if they cant troubleshoot the problem.. if 2 airports are having the same problem the chances of it being the airport... slim to none. good luck with all of this post again if nothing changes.

Wont connect to each other

connect the airport extreme to the voyager using a network cable... factory reset the extreme and then connect to it using the airport utility... you should get a setup screen where you can switch the extreme to "bridge mode" .. everything else should happen automatically.. you will then have 2 wireless networks?

Airport Extreme 802.11g

At this point you are much better off installing a USB wireless antennae than spending money on an Airport card, cracking open the iMac, and installing it.

USB wireless adapters are cheap, plentiful, and have more capabilities than the generation of Airport cards that were made for G5 iMacs.
