Re: Cannot locate info. on what SD Cards I can use in my...
According to the specifications, there is no flash memory card slot in this model. The only way to transfer pictures is via serial cable to your computer.
Sorry, I miss typed the model number as DC40 (totally different camera) instead of EasyShare DC40...the SD (Secure Digital) protcol memory cards are available up to 4 gb capacity. (You can NOT use the newer SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) format cards in your camera) For the sake of compatibility I would recommend a 512mb or 1gb SD card. For a 4mp camera I would get a 50X (speed) or faster SD card. There are numerous good sales in this range due to the adoption of the backwards compatible faster and higher capacity SDHC protocol. The older MMC (MultiMedia Card) protocol cards are generally less capacity, slower and not worth the few dollars you may save. Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
The CD40 uses MMC and SD cards. MMC cards are a dying breed, so I'd suggest SD cards. You can find those in a variety of sizes at just about any department, electronic, and office supply stores. You can probably find them at drugstores and supermarkets, as well. You can also buy them online.
Be careful to buy SD cards 2GB and smaller, not SDHC cards 4GB and larger. SDHC cards look identical but will not work in the CD40.
