Samsung DVD-4600 DVD/VCR Player

Haven't used this much, but recently this machine won't play DVD's. Screen message reads: This disk cannot be played. Please check the disk. I have tried at least ten different disks with the same error message on each one. These same disks do work fine on my computer. Outside of this, the machine seems to operate (slot opens and closes, screen turns on with remote.) Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Having the same problem with my Sumsung DVD-4600. It won't play any DVD's. Have had mine for about 3 years now. If you find a solution please let me know also.

I think we have pushed so many controls, we have confused the player.

Originally, I had a frozen message on the TV screen indicating a possible set up problem. I have never seen this message before. It could not be erased.

I know I could get though this if I had not lost the manual! Is it possible to print a section of the manual or could I get a new manual mailed to me?

The VCR part of this combo does work.

    Thanks

Same problem here. I recorded home videos on a Memorex DVD-R disk, and they play great on my computer. But I get the "disk cannot be played / Please check the disk" message when I try it in my Samsung DVD Player. I tried ejecting and reinserting, but to no avail.

Yes; I have the same problem. Some will play, some will not. I tried a new Spiderman 3 disk, It failed to load, went back for another new copy, and it failed also. So what's the solution?

I am having the exact same problem with this model. It is around three years old. Same routine...all the discs that have "failed" have worked fine in my computer.

Is there a solution? I am minutes away from going to buy a new DVD player...

We have a Samsung DVD/VCR (not sure of the model). Recently it stopped playing almost all DVDs, giving the same error message reported by others:

    This disk cannot be played.

    Please check the disk.

We first noticed this with a newly purchased DVD movie, then checked older DVD movies that we had played before on the same machine, but none of them worked. Oddly enough, disk 2 of the new movie plays on the machine. We have not yet found a solution, and it doesn't sound like anyone else has either. I would recommend that people NOT buy any Samsung DVD in future as the best way to avoid the problem.

We have had the same problem with our Samsung DVD/VCR. We recently pruchased a DVD movie, and when we tried to play it, we got the message:

    This disk cannot be played.

    Please check the disk.

We tried playing other DVD movies that we have watched on the same machine in the past, and none of them worked. Oddly enough, Disk 2 of the new movie (which unfortunately contains only "Extras", not the movie itself) does play on the machine. I recommend that people NOT buy any Samsung DVD players, as they appear to be defective.

    same problem.

DVD-4600 will not read brand new "Bucket List" movie. Gets to point where the comment on the monitor is "can't read." I also tried it in my computer and it read just fine. I've found a lot of comments from people who are having the same problem, but nothing from Samsung about how to fix it. Would appreciate some suggestions and help.

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.

DVD Player stops reading disc Error message :

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

Samsung dvd-v4600

Wish I could. I have the 4600 combo and the VCR works fine. The DVD stopped working many months ago and just yesterday started working fine again. Worked fine for two days and then stopped, picture froze, and all I got out of it, is the picture is loading. Wont give me back my DVD nohow, so have opened the case and stole it back. Tray will not open at all. Trying some repairs, will holler if succesful
