Some new dvds record right through, others from the packet come to 'NO RECORDING POSSIBLE' at some stage - is this to be expected?

I've occasionally found that some brand new DVD-Rs are rejected by Pana recorders, and have put this down to manufacturing faults on the discs. It's usually not worth taking them back when one disc of a pack of 100 is faulty.

All I can recommend is that you use a renowned brand, such as TDK, Maxell, etc to reduce fail rates.

SOURCE: How to transfer Panasonic DMR-E80H recorded DVDs to computer

I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product

Lg dvd recorder/vhs combo doesn't read dvds

Buy a DVD cleaning kit follow the instructions, sometimes brings it back to life. If no change! the assembly will need to be replaced,"not cost effective" cheaper to replace.

At digital change over , will my dvd/tape recorder still work. type DF-4100p

It will still play DVDs and videos, and record from one to the other, but you won't be able to record from TV onto either format now. (I know: I've got one!)

The new DVD-RW discs will not record. The old

Is it the CD/DVDs you are using? I have seen that many DVD burners that do record, will not play on Laptops/PC or other players. See the recommended DVDs the manufact. requires and go form there.

Dvd recorder turns off after 25 sec of recording. plays dvds just fine. what could be wrong?

hello,
read one of the other 'fixits' and applied it to my situation. i opened tray, turned off the machine, then pushed the tray half way in. used air and completely blew out the unit. (as well as can be expected w/o opening.) it now works.
it was very weird. it would shut off exactly 25 seconds after starting recording every time, at least 10 times. another weird thing was that it played dvds just fine.
thanks for help,
