I have a leak in my Goodman heat pump. I've had to add at least two pounds of R-22 to the unit every summer for the past 3 years. But, before I pay the money to have the leak repaired and to have it recharged, I want to find out if the unit is even large enough to cool my home. I have a 1154 sq. ft. home and one side of the home is always warmer than the other. I'm suspicious that this old unit is not at least a two ton unit at all.
You say 2 to 3 years... I'm assuming the unit is older than that. Especially being r22. What about the first 10 years??? Normally you will get 400 to 500 sqft per ton of cooling, but, that depends on heat load calculations. If the unit wasn't big enough you would have had this issue 10 years ago, not when the system kept running low on refrigerant. At first guess I would say a 2 ton unit is not big enough but if it worked fine for 10 years...wuth all that in mind, if it were me, (a seasoned professional) I would spend 1800 to fix my 15 year old r22 unit before I spent $4000 on a new r410a piece of junk. Best Wishes!!

SOURCE: Goodman furnace I think
Ok, a flashing 3 on a Goodman control board usually means that the pressure switch is tripping. A few things will cause this. One being a restriction in the exhaust or combustion air inlet. The second could indicate a faulty inducer blower motor and the third would be a blocked or bad pressure switch.
With the front cover off and door switch taped down, Have a helper turn the thermostat up to 75. You will be watching the circuit board for flashing lights and in a few seconds the inducer motor (the small fan hooked to the exhaust) will start. If this does not happen, we either have a bad circuit board or blower motor. If the fan starts rotating, inspect the hoses going to the small circular pressure switch. Sometimes they may get either water or debris in the hose and not allow the switch to sense pressure. If the hoses look OK, the igniter will glow an orange color and you will see this if you look thru the small viewing port. IF no glow, you could have a bad pressure switch, a bad ignition relay (found on the circuit board) or a bad igniter. OK so if the igniter glows, a few seconds later the gas valve should click open and send gas to the burners. The orange will turn to blue. If this does not happen, you have either a bad gas valve or bad circuit board. Finally if you get flame but it will not stay lit more than a few seconds, you may have a restriction in the burner gas train, a bad gas valve, a dirty or bad flame sensor or not enough gas pressure.
Knowing the sequence of operation will give you the needed information to talk with a service technician and cut down on diagnostic costs.
Try looking on the back of the furnace access panel for both model number and a diagnostic schematic. This will confirm what the flashing 3 code means for your unit.
Sorry, without knowing the model number, this is the best I can do for you. Good Luck!

If there is no blinking light, then the unit is not seeing a call for heat or cool. My guess is a lose or broken wire in the thermostat circuit. Try and putting a jumper across the red and white heat terminals inside the furnace and manually closing the door switch. If you get heat, it's telling you there is a wiring issue. If you get nothing, it's a bad circuit board.
SOURCE: 3.5 TON GSH14 GOODMAN WITH TXV
If it cuts out on heating cycle only, it has to be the metering device at the outside unit, which i think is a txv for that model. Take the outside unit apart, run it in heat and watch the txv and see how it responds, also check the bulb n make sure its secure....
SOURCE: goodman heat pump 5 ton power problem
Sound like the outside unit is going to ground or the unit is over amping. Take and shut off the power to the unit and check all of the electrical connection for tightness. Don't forget to check the disconnect wires too since you shut it off at the breaker box. If you have a meter check to see if it''s live before you work on it. If it's all tight then call back the person that did the previous repair and tell them that he obviously missed something and the you feel that it should be a warranty call.

try national energy they will give you a price you will need make model and serial number 600 is high you should be able to get it for a lot less
