The device probably can with a Buffalo utility/driver disk. The other computer will need these drivers to recognize the device. If you lost the driver disk, you can download them here: http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads

It has worked without error on laptops and computers who didn't have it installed without a problem many times before, so why now? *sorry for being long-winded, I just like understanding the problem fully ^^

if you dropped your hard-drive and it stopped functioning - high chances that the drive has a physical crash. Best suggestion will be to contact a professional data recovery team if the data on the drive is really important (Coz, they charge a bomb for the recovery) Suggestion would be to talk to drivesavers.com

Try accessing it in another USB port or computer. If still not, it may unfortunately be damaged. You may be able to get it replaced under warranty.

HDD Unlock Wizard HDD Unlock Wizard v4.2 http://www.filebuzz.com/publisher/download.php?id=98078

HDD Unlock Wizard is a window based utility.

It works as a new life for your locked hard disks, as it is competent to unlock almost all hard disks of major brands available in market.

Its proprietary unlocking algorithms can remove any unknown HDD password and you do not required to give any hint of password as it is not working as a normal password cracker tool.

Removal of a HDD password is a slow process and total time required to remove HDD password is depending on the size of the hard disk and type of hard disk.

A small 2.5" notebook hard disk takes more time as compared to normal Desktop hard disk.

Presently it supports IDE and SATA hard disks.

Driver for HD-PNTU3

This drive showing as not supported for Linux as you mentioned.
Usually this is due to the board inside the enclosure.
You could crack open the case and mount the drive internally which would resolve this issue.
Otherwise you are down to trying to find a driver (not made for this model) that will be recognized by your system.
