26cc Not a question, but a fix. Trimmer won't start, I saw all the posts on carb issues. Cleaned the carb checked everything over, after 3 times taking carb off I was ready to buy another trimmer. Just for kicks I started looking at the muffler and noticed a little brown covering over the less than dime sized hole. I poked the cover with my knife and found a mud wasp or bumble bee had filled the hole with larva and pollen, then covered the hole up nice and neat. Cleaning it out fixed the problem and it started with 1 pull.

Good that you fixed the problem
but to be fair , you would not have mentioned that it sat for a long time before you went to use it

The part no. for the Spring and container is A98773A. You can Google the PN and find many sources. Expect to pay between $10.00 to $15.00. I like m-and-d.com If they have it in stock you will normally get it in 3 to 4 days.

You need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Use a Den Tek Brush,
(http://www.dentek.com/shop.php?target=products&product_id=7), to clean the small portals in the carb. Make sure to clean the small screen in the carb. as well. Reassemble and start.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

SOURCE: Homelite 25cc muffler problem - won't run

The best way to do it is to remove the screen. Take a small screwdriver and some carburator cleaner and make sure that the exhaust is clear. Use a wire brush and clean the screen. I personally remove the little screen on every weed eater I have. Not politically correct, but effective, because those screens just keep getting clogged up and causing problems. Good luck and hope this helps you!

Hs45 backfires spits

Sounds like an over fueling issue, Try resetting the carb to its standard settings, screw both tuning screws right in ant then turn anticlockwise to the following settings H 3/4 of a turn. L 1 full turn. This should set it back to standard. If this doesn't help then it could be a carb diaphram or sticking needle.

I have a Ryobi Expand-It 2 Cycle 26cc Trimmer , and when i attacthed the pole trimmer and tried to start it the pull cord won't retract.. do you know how to fix this? i can't get the cover off

the ryobi expand-it is just a power head ( motor ) that you can attach any ryobi or like attachment to
There is no reason why attaching a pole trimmer would affect the recoil of the starter rope as it just slides onto the drive at the end of the shaft
the fix will require the removal of the cover and the tool will be in a selection of bits that you can get from a good tool shop or auto parts shop
from memory it is a 6 point star around 3mm in size
the failure to recoil is normally a broken coil spring

If you have a good spark, and there is fuel at the plug, the only things to stop it fireing up are a sheared flywheel key knocking the timeing out, or the engine has low compression due to wear or damaged piston and ring.

the other possibilities you have is a bad crank seal, or a flywheel came loose and its out of time, will it fire on carb cleaner sprayed in the carb, If it runs for seconds and , then I would say it's not getting fuel, If it only farts once or twice then I would check crank seals cause if they are leaking then your crankcase cannot draw vacumn which in turn causes fuel pump in carb to draw fuel, If you have to check flywheel pull it apart and take flywheel nut off and pull flywheel off and inspect the key that is built into flywheel to see if it is sheared off or messed up, also while checking muffler check for the opening that the mud dobbers havent put mud in muffler pipe, good luck

To keep my Makita weed wacker running I have to close the choke about 3/4. I see no mixture adjustment on the carb and everything appears clean.

An IPL for a 26cc line trimmer can be found here:
BCM2610 Line Trimmer

The carburetor is pictured but not where it mounted on the engine or how you gain access.

It sounds like it is very lean. Have you cleaned the air filter? Checked for leaky fuel hoses? A loose carb or damaged boot may also be the cause. There is a reason it is running lean. HTH

Continued operation in a lean condition may cause it to cease.

I am able to crank the trimmer but it does not stay on. in the past it worked just fine but sat unused for roughly 4 months and now this. we own a TB425cs string trimmer. how do i fix this issue?

1) Change out the old fuel (not just adding fresh but pouring out the old and replacing it entirely) and check the engine oil.

2) Check muffler and/or spark arrestor screen for restrictions.

3) Clean and reinstall spark plug (check gap).

4) Replace inlet screen INSIDE the carb. (It is located directly under the inlet needle.)

Try each of these as needed.
Hope this helps!
