At first, my 37mf231d/37 lcd started taking its time turning on. soon, five and ten min would go by before turning on. Tht green light would blink dimly, then glow brightly, just before turning off. turning back on, it would blink some more, then turn off. The third time it would start working. Then one day as my wife was watering the plant on top (I know, Bad idea) and dripped a bit. There was an audible pop, and the tv shut off. After about an hour, I tried it, and the same blinking went on, till it started. Finally the power died at home, and it no longer turns on. The light has been blinking for a week and a half. Figured what the hell, and popped the back off, pulled the power supply, and found two capacitors that were swollen, and leaky.C#2074 is a 2200 uf @ 25v, andC#2081 is a 1200uf @35v. Going to try it, and hope for the best.

I had the same problem in March and had an extended warranty on it. I had Sears come out and replace the power supply board which they said was bad. After ordering the part and waiting 2 weeks for another board to be put in they installed it and 3 days later a huge popping sound and it was out again! Sears came back out and ordered another power supply board (said it must have been defective) and now waiting for a new one to be put in. I paid alot for this tv a few years back and have not been satisfied. I was told that I have to have 4 occurances within a 12 month period to get a replacement. I wonder if something else is causing the power supply board to go bad or is it just poor quality going into the manufacturing of the board. I have a 32 in magnavox and a few months ago it was hard to turn on with the remote. I changed the batteries and still had the same problem. Now, I turn the tv on and when I turn it off, it will not come back on. I unpluged it for a while then the red light came on, I turned it on by hand and it blinked for 10 seconds and went off again. At first I waited for about an hour and turned it back on and it came on. But now waiting one to two hours does not work any more. What could this be? Also changed swollen C2074 and C2081 and it now works perfectly! a bit daunting for a novice like myself but with a steady hand and decent 'put it back the way you took it apart' skills, all went well!
Did the cap mod on all 3 caps and still the same problem. Is the fuse a possible culprit? I should have checked that while I had the thing apat! If it is, what value fuse would I be looking at? Fault with main board. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
you are screwed.. the power module is going and will cost at least300 to fix..scrap the tv and get a Sony or Samsung.. Magnavox is a piece of junk..tom dwyre
Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

This is due to bad capcitors inside and would need a expert opinion. I would take it in for a free estimate then upon estimate choose what road to take from there,
Capacitors tend to pop when they fail. Phillips LCD TVs have lots of problems with capacitor failures in their power supplies. I've got my 37mf231d apart on my workbench as we speak. Mine makes a whistling sound which I believe is either a solder fault or a bad capacitor.
A new power supply board is about $150 for that TV. The gamble, of course, is if the power supply took out something else when it failed.
