Replace brakes for denali 700c

Hi, when I apply brakes it takes a little more distance to stop (compared to high end bikes). If I replace the brake assembly with a better one (from Shimano or something) will it help? or do I need to replace the wheels as well (for the pads to be able to create enough drag to stop).

Just go to a higher end brake pad that should work.First make sure the cable is adjusted properly, that could be the whole problem. Maybe you're just used to the bike now and are going a lot faster than you used to.

Can you explain why you think the tires are too big? Do they NOT fit the rims? What condition was this bike in when you bought it? If the brake pads line up with the rims then the wheels are correctly sized for the frame.

Check eBay. Their listing between $10 - $50, but I didn't see anything for a 700C. Still, one may pop up.

My brakes seem to move to one side, I tried adjusting the pads and also the cable but once I press the brakes, the whole assembly moves on one side and starts touching the rims even after I release them

Yes but you didn't tighten the actual brake assembly. Grab a 10mm to 12mm box wrench and tighten that down. You should be good to go but before you ride off into the sunset make sure to do the other set as well and to readjust the brake pads on the rims and tighten all the pads snuggly.

High Dollar/High Mileage Brake Pads,Verses OEM,Or Metallic Pads

What is the big talk about high mileage brake pads?Well, they do last a really long time, they actually do,but, yes ,I say but,did you know that the high mileage pad is a lot harder too,and this includes the ceramic pad also, witch is a pad designed to stop, all brake dust,so your rims will stay clean and shiny. This is all good, but two,no,three things are on the down side of the harder brake pad. One,as you drive, the brake pad does not give, any,it just continues to mill away at the brake rotor, there fore, most of the time, when it is time for a new set, witch will be a good long time, the rotors are too far gone to resurface, and must be discarded, and then you have to replace them with new ones, even at a bargain, they, the rotors will cost a lot more than a set of OEM,or semi metallic brake pads. Two,They will not stop as well,it can take as long as twice the time to come to a full stop, when applying the brakes.Three, the premium brake pad can cost as much as 90.00 dollars, compared to as low as 18.00 dollars for a OEM ,or semi metallic brake pad,you could almost buy 5 sets of brake semi metallic for one set of premium brake pads. You choose, how much money do you want to put into your brakes?Face it folks,a little dust can wash off, compared to having to pay out the nose just to not have the brake dust, and putting money into rotors every time you do a brake job. I am going to let you in on a secret here, the manufacture advertises life time warranty for these premium pads, but they do not warranty the rotors, and the labor, and it is hard now,to get them to warranty the brake pad.Weigh the difference,is it worth it.You make the call.

Dont know how to remove and install front wheel on gmc denali road bike 700c

If the wheel has nuts (not bolts) on each side you just need to loosen each one enough to remove the wheel.

ABS light will not reset on BMW R1100 rt after replacing abs sensor

you have to check the wires going to the abs, could be a bad wire, if they are ok then either the new sensor is malfunctioning, or the abs sentral is fried

My back brakes do not retract open after compressing them and the brake cable is not taught with the lever.

More then likely it is just a lubrication issue. Cables and housings need to be lubricated when they malfunction as such. Just a touch of lightwieght oil in the housing will work wonders. Also try lubricating all pivot points on the actual brake arms themselves.

Remember to use a bike specific lub and dont get any on the contacting surfaces of the brake pads......not a good thing at all.
