Replace hard drive but can't load tablet operating system

The hard drive on my tc 4200 failed. It came with a 40 gig Toshiba hard drive and I replaced it with a Samsung 160 gig drive. However, I was not able to load the tablet operating system. I was able to install XP Professional and the machine works find as a laptop, but of course I have lost the tablet functionality.

How can I install the tablet operating system?

I bouht one used and had no tablet pc restore discs, but my 40 GB hard drive was full of programs. I cloned the drive with operating system reimaged my 160 GB hard drive with the image. You need to use partition software to repartition the new drive to " see" the larger drive with free space. This can be done before or afte. I did it after because i had to go thru trial and error acouple of times due to no real concrete info on the web.

I have a number of these units in my business. I believe I read somewhere that this unit's bios limits HD to 120gb. If you are using restore disks, there might be an issue with the drive size. Just a thought. HP sells the restore disks on their site.

My toshiba tablet won't let me go past the welcome screen

If this is under warranty take it back. If it isn't power the unit on with just the battery powering the unit. When you see the Windows splash screen drop the battery out after the screen goes black put the battery back in and press the power button. This should bring up the on screen menu telling you it failed to start or shut down correctly. Select, Boot in Safe Mode and see if the system will power on. If that fails you need to do a system restore. To access system restore options power the unit on and press and hold the F10 key, this will bring up the restore Windows options. From that menu select to restore your operating system. If that fails you will have to do a complete restore to factory default settings. If that fails you will have to replace the hard drive.

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND IS THE MESSAGE. HOW DO I ADD A SYSTEM?

This is usually indicative of your hard drive failing or the connection has come adrift.

The operating system, is usually windows, normally loaded on a pc when purchased. If you've purchased second hand, one of the usual practices is to remove the hard drive (and operating system) to protect personal data.

If there is a hard drive in place, you can buy a copy of windows, a friend may lend you a copy, but you will also need a code of authority (6 groups of 5 characters)to install it properly.

Alternatively you can get or download a "Linux" based operating system such as Ubuntu for free.

I ave a toshiba m200 that is taking to long to operate and when it does i stuck and refuse to function in any way!! i have no idea what is the problem and am trying to retrieve my work and upload it in a...

Hi,it is possible that the resultant cause the problem is your hard drive(caused by the hard disk failing to be READ from or be WRITTEN to,in this case be READ from),or one of your Memory modules is failing,so first of all try swapping or switching the RAM modules from one slot to the next, one at a time,if system is still slow, take out your hard disk, get a converter, slave hard disk to another system copy your files out and get a new Hard disk.

I replaced the 30 G toshiba HDD that was not functioning on my LE1600 Motion tablet with a 60 G toshiba HDD and tried to install windows xp from an external CDD. It formated the drive and installed the...

Tried the same thing and got the same result using the motion computing DVD/CD external reader/burner.

Has anyone found an answer to this problem of trying to switch to a larger hard drive on the 1600 with format/installing? The new hard drive was not able to read the recovery disk with OS on it.
Thanks.

When i start the pc i get bios block3 damaged

The issue indiates that the Hard Drive sector or Operating System file block is corrupted. Try to boot the Computer in Safe Mode and check if the same issue persists. You will have to reinstall the Operating System once to ensure that the issue is with the Hard Drive only.

If there is no hard drive found, there may be an issue with your hard drives firmware, you should check online for any updates then try again.

My Toshiba M400 did not read hard drive!

You need to activate the Raid diver. This can be done by slipping it into the XP install or adding the Raid Drivers at the time of installing the operating system. See Toshiba.com support pages for a copy of the Raid drivers

Hi i m having Compaq TC1100 now there is error on starting that operating system not found how i do the things, this tc not having any optical drive

It's bloody hard. Take it to a PC repair shop. I've just done it with a TC1000 (previous model) and it takes a good 3 hours + some extra equipment/software.
