Camera won't charge

I hadn't used camera in a while & it needed to be charged. I put it on the charger and the nex day it still wasn't charged so I assumed that I needed a new battery which I purchased and then charged but it didn't charge either. Can the charger go bad? How can I check?

Sometimes the charger can become loose in either the camera or the plug so try buying a new plug and if it still doesn't work then it is a problem with the camera and you will have to ask the people you bought it from

SOURCE: charger blinks red and does not charge

This maybe a solution. I had the same issue just now. Pulled battery, put back in, placed on dock, and still blinking red. So I removed the camera from the dock, pulled battery, put same old battery back in, placed on the dock and turned the mode switch on right away before it started blinkin red. It seems to be charging now with one bar and has not gone blinking red for 15 minutes.

I was outside with the camera in 10 degree weather taking pics of my dogs but had been inside for 20 minutes before placing it on the doc. I think something may have happened with the charging circuit and turning it on right away with it on the doc may have reset the charging. Try it. Hope it works for you.

SOURCE: my digital camera will not turn on

My problem is now fixed! I put in a fresh set of recently purchased non-rechargeable batteries into the camera.

I was out-of-state visiting my Dad and taking many photos of his things. I ended up replacing my batteries with some he had around the house just prior to the first instance of camera's problem.
[I do not know the age of Dad's batteries!]

I went to Kodak's website [link] www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn027989.jhtml?pq-path=3906/1931

On this page is a heading "Troubleshoot And Repair," and I followed the link - Step-by-Step Solutions & Repair .

SOURCE: the camera won.t turn on the battery

I had the same problem with flashing red light on my charging dock (within 10 sec after 2nd green light came on). I did fix it. There is a rust brown securing tab that holds the battery in place. Mine must have a broken spring..... So, I put the battery into my camera, pushed securing tab over the battery and then wedged a toothpick tip to keep battery tab in place. Once back on the charger, I had no more flashing red light. The battery is charging correctly. The problem was that the battery was not held down into place correctly. I now just have to unwedge the toothpick tip to remove the battery...but not really an issue at all as I keep the battery in there all the time. Very easy fix!!!
Others suggested to reseat the plastic dock. But mine was secure. Somewhere there is not a good battery connection that is causing the red flashing light. I am thankful to figure it out. Hope this helps you.

Won't charge

The 4100 is a camera, not a battery charger. Connecting the camera to a computer's USB port is only going to drain the batteries faster, since the camera has to use juice to communicate with the computer (even if only to say it has nothing to say).

If you're using an EN-MH1 rechargeable battery pack, you must charge it using a separate MH-71 battery charger. If you're using rechargeable AA batteries, you must charge them using an appropriate battery charger.

The solution to your problem is simple, Kathrynbax.

The battery never comes in fully charged. It's always charged only so you may be able to check if your camera is working. I suggest, you take out your battery and put it to charge for exactly 90 minutes as the manual says. Then I'm sure you won't face any such problems.

Hope this solves your problem.

How do you get the camera to charge? I put in new batteries and it still says battery low and shuts off. I have plugged it into the computer and it still won't charge. It won't even turn on.

Some camera will not turn on (Turn on but not take pictures etc) when you plug it in USB, it will only communicate with the camera PC suite software to transfer pictures.

Regarding the battery, if your camera has mobile phones type lithium ion batteries then you can either charge these batteries outside if you have a charger for them or put the battery in camera and plug the camera with its charger that came with it. Its just like charging mobile phone.

If your camera uses AA size (pencil cell) batteries then you will need to either buy Duracell batteries (or any other good Alkaline battery, Duracell is good) and throw them when they stop working or

Buy rechargeable AA size Ni-MH or Li-Ion batteries with charger. Charge the battery with its charger for at least 12 hours before first use or follow the instruction written on battery pack.

I think you are either using normal carbon AA size batteries that are used in clocks or toys, these will not work in digital camera.
