It would appear that the washer is not getting water, though it could be aborting the cycle early for some reason.
Try to google "Indesit dishwasher idl40s lights 1 & 3 flashing", and various permutations to see what others have said. At the least you need to understand what that pattern of lights flashing means.
There is an electric valve that the washer controls to allow it to fill with water when needed. This may be clogged or may have failed.
Pursue the flashing light issue first so you understand what the washer is complaining about.
If you look at the trouble shooting page, flashing lights mean a clogged filter . If 2 flashes it needs to be turned off , and turned on again after five minutes. There is a call number -
I used the solution above and my dishwasher now working!!! I would add, plenty of towels and a tray or three to catch the stinking water that comes out of the outfow when you tip it up. Yes 6 screws to remove the back, but on the Indesit IDL40 two additional longer screws in the centre are helpful to remove. Then just tuck the bit that was attached out of the way. My pump was cream and white - check out pumps online to see what they look like. Undo the one screw holding the pump in place and then you have to twist it to release three little pegs. I washed outs loads of small bits of grit. Then easy to put back together. Re-attach the drain pipe to your drain, electric plug at wall and water inflow pipe. (Check for leaks!) I am so happy! Took me two hours but I had to hunt for the info and find the hidden screwdrivers. Husband will be pleased I think.
Hi, what you are currently experiencing is as a result of dishwasher detergent, combined with mineral deposits from hard water, which in yurn can leave a white film on the inside of the dishwasher. You have to clean the dishwasher by sprinkling baking soda onto a damp cloth. Scrub the inside of the dishwasher to remove soap scum, grime and mineral deposits. Pour 2 cups white vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher. Turn the dishwasher on and run it on a full cycle. Stop the dishwasher halfway through the wash cycle and allow the vinegar and steam to work on the remaining mineral deposits for 20 minutes before resuming the cycle. Open the dishwasher and dry the interior with clean, dry cloths. Keep the door propped open for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the dishwasher to dry completely.
