Raymarine C120...DSM30...will only read depths 4' and above...wil not read depths below 4'? Any Suggestions?
I have the same problem on a new 5 million italian boat since 1 year. ("DSM connection lost" or "No Data") Various service technicians changed 4 times teh DSM 300 module, now they changed sensor and a cable between DSM and hub. Still the same problem. I have 24 v but a 24 to 12 converter only for this installed.
Since I am a professional captain (24 years) i only have problems with Autohelm /Raymarine products. I would never never buy or suggest them.
At the moment theYard installers are on board but despite phoning heavily with support did not yet find out the problem.
My guess is bad installation of cables (all sorts and voltages bundled up and mixed) and bad software.
probably i find out one year. it is very annoying to have the alarm (which you can t stop or turn down) every few minutes, even in harbour.
You have either the DSM250 or DSM300 digital depth sounder module installed. The C80 is not seeing it.
There is an LED status light on the DSM. For starters, it should be lit either red, yellow or green to confirm it is actually powered on. We are hoping for a green light.
Double-check the cable between DSM and C80 for tightness. Also double-check the DSM's power cable for tightness.
The DSM's are sensitive to voltage level onboard. Make sure the DSM's connections to the circuit breaker panel or battery are tight and clean. Double check with a multimeter the there is 12V DC available to the DSM.
Let me know what you find.
I don't have the sounder so can't address your question directly, but you can download all Raymarine manuals for your gear directly at www.raymarine.com
