Does anyone have a solution to the surging problem?

If the surge was that big the appliance will be done ..

change the mass air flow meeter,, or try cleaning it?

check the idle control valve that can sometimes make the engine surge.

You need to get more details. What component has failed that makes them believe that a surge caused the problem. There is usually a thermal fuse inside of the main power transformer that CAN be effected by power surges. WIthout more details, I really can't rpovide any ammunition for your claim. Please request exact details from the servicer.

it could be a fuel filter problem as the egst valve might not be opening .

A laser printer when warming up draws far more power than your battery backup is equipped to support. Plug it into the surge protector side if you have one, or bypass the battery backup entirely.

Don't tell anyone that you did not install a surge suppression on it either.
