TV refuses to stay on

TV turned off on its own one night. Then when I turned it on later, it turned back off after about 5 minutes, tried again... turned off in 1 minute. Left it off and the next morning, the very second it is turned on it turns back off. Any suggestions for a home remedy? I can't even keep it on long enough to extract a DVD I need to take back to Blockbuster.

Exactly the same tv/dvd combo, and exactly the same problem.

Same problem. This is about the third time this has happened. First time, I took to a shop who "fixed" it for about $100. About 6 months later it happened again. I unplugged it and was using a different TV for a while when a few months later I plugged it in and found it was working. But now it's a year later and last night it started again.

Does anyone know if it will work after just a couple days of being unplugged?

It downloaded a firmware update on 3/19/14 evening when I turned it on. Turned it off several hours later. Went to turn it on next evening 3/20/14 and it would not power up. Vizio light comes on and the big V shows up on the screen and then it shuts off.

I'm the OP of this, and what I did was had it unplugged for about 2 days, plugged it back in and it has worked since.

Samsung TV model LN32A450C1DXZA, after turning the TV on it will turn itself off shortly after and then turn itself back on shortly thereafter. Then it repeats that several times before staying on.

Hi there,

If the tv is still under warranty, this can be repaired at no charge.

However, if not under warranty, you will need to have the CAPACITORS on the main power supply circuit board tested (or replaced).

The capacitors responsible for the power supply can sometimes fail - open the back panel. If the capacitors on the main power supply board look too fat, or signs of burning near the solder joints, then you've found the problem.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Scott

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

Television won't turn on

it is best you buy another set my friend it is not worth fixing the money you have for repairs and the cost for components put it together and you will get a good tv free of repair worries plus with warranty.if you get that set fix bam you take it home then about a week it is back in the work shop again.you will have to spend more money.a 10 year old set is not worth to have it repaired.replace it.good luck my friend.
