It sounds like a convergence problem; depending on your skills it may or may not be something you can do (parts cost on EBAY will be under twenty dollars).

I will attach some convergence photos: does your set look anything like these?

If it does and you can solder etc I can tell you the best place to get the parts and how to do it.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

Replacing the convergence board will require a complete convergence adjustment. A better solution would be the replacing of the defective convergence IC. This would retain the convergence settings for the set. I'll locate the part numbers and costs and update this later.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

• Screen Looks 3D
• Colors wont align
• Screen may look distorted

most likely convergence IC's usually 2 of them

thats a problem with the Blue CRTs coolant needing replacement. If you look directly into the blue and green CRTs while its playing you should notice a bunch of crud inside the lens indicating that the coolant needs replacement. You can get the coolant replacement kit for a phillips at the following link which includes the coolant and instructions

Yes its the convergence ICs. You will need ywo STK392-120 ICs and about six of the 6.8 ohm 1watt metal resistors to repair the issue. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they will provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can easially do the repair yourself and save about 400.00. sounds like the Convergence ICs are getting ready to go. Does it appear as a outline almost 3D? If so its convergence if its more like a glowing halo its coolant in the blue CRT that needs changing.

if the hase your refering to a glowing halo its the blue coolant that needs changing. If it causing a 3D image then its the convergence ICs need changing
