I have a paperjam on my colour laser printer CLX 3170 and I dont know how to get to the paperjam inside the machine

Step 1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
Step 2
Turn off the printer.
Step 3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Step 4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
Step 5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
Step 6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
Step 7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though.
Step 8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
Step 9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Inspect the paper path once again.

CLX 2160 - paperjam

There is probably a jam in the paper feed area. Pull the paper tray out and stick your hand in to find and remove any paper stuck there. Then reinstall the paper tray and open and close the front door of the printer. The jam should be cleared.

If it is still showing paper jam, pull the tray out again and look to make sure you didn't miss any paper, then check the other areas of the printer (starting with the exit area) for paper.

X215 continously displays paperjam 1, there is no paper jam,

I didn't have this exact problem, mine was a paper jam 0 error. The problem was caused by a spring that got old ended using one out of a retractable ink pen. Once you take the four screws out that hold the back plate on and remove it. When facing the front of the printer the left side where the handle is will push back and top can be pulled down to remove. Be careful this is where the speaker is located. The speaker is connected by a six inch wire that can be easily unplugged. Facing the side of printer that was just removed is a plate with 5 or 6 numbered screws only remove the ones that are numbered. This is the drive system for the paper tray and out feed. My problem was the cam gear located to the right of the plate that was just removed. It is like two gears made as one with a spring in the middle and two coils used as a brake for the in feed. I did notice on the left side of the drive system was a light that is used for paper detection pointing towards a photo eye. Most likely that light has burned out for you. There is a side diagram located at http://support.lexmark.com:80/perl/support/support.cgi?relevance=&ccs=229:1:0:393:0:0&mode=DOCS&doctype=topdoc&term=&docid=ENUS20058

Paperjams

Sounds like the pick up rollers are worn or dirty.
You can try to clean them with alcohol.
When you pull the tray out the rollers
should be towards the front of the printer.
