To change the language from Spanish to English, visit System Preferences / International / Language. If English is not the language at the top of the list, drag it to the top of the list. Then click the Input Menu tab and make sure that only "US English" is checked.
Sorry if you already knew that, but I have no way of knowing what you know or what you already did.
If this doesn't work, go to System Preferences / Accounts and create a new temporary user. Log out and then log in as that user. If that account comes up in Spanish, set it to English. If it goes back to Spanish, you probably ought to reinstall your OS, using Archive and Install. If the new user stays in English, you have some problems with the individual account settings in your main account. I suspect some preference file, such as ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist, is corrupt and should be deleted (warning: deleting this file will set a lot of your user preferences back to system default). You can use the freeware application Preferential Treatment to find obviously damaged preferences, but it will not find all types of damage.

How can I change the language on my laptop?

If you just want to change the keyboard and general language settings, you simply go to the Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Regional/Language settings and change your language.

If your friend installed the Turkish version of WinXP (i.E. all the alert boxes are in Turkish) and you want to modify it to another language - that's a totally different and more complex situation.

In order to change the whole system language you can install a newer service pack in a different Language or uninstall the last installed Service Pack and after changing the registry settings below Install it again.
!!!Make always a backup of your Registry first !

You have XP SP2 in Turkish and want to change your systmes language to English, you will have to download SP3 in English (link).
(You can change the language here to another one before the download.)
Then you will have to change some registry keys. (Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlNlsLanguage Registry Key), and change the value for “Default” and “InstallLanguage” from 041F (Turkish) to 0409 (English).
Reboot and you'll be able to install SP3 in English.
If no problems occur, you will have the whole system language changed.
Here is the List of numbers that represents each language in the registry:

Please go in the System Preferences (apple menu), click on International. In the languages menu, place your language at the top. You have then to close the window and log out, then get back to your session

Language has changed from English to Chinese

Go to "apple" menu and go to system preferences, click on international ( the icon with the UN flag), from there you can change your preferable language. if english, Drag english all the way to the top of the list on the left. The list basically, means the other that your mac is going to select a language, if is not available for that particular one, it goes down the list. In the menu, order for sorted list, select english. on the last setting, word brake, leave it at standard.
I hope that was what you were referring to, if not, be a bit more specific. for example. are you referring to your mac in general or a specific program on your mac.
Otherwise, that should do the trick.

Changing from Spanish to English

In APPS, there is no option for English. You need to select another language (DANSK usually comes first), then select option 2 for English (option 1 will be the language you chose in APPS).
