Shaw model # 2020b0-b1 remote control. pushed mute buttom to mute tv, pushed mute again to turn mute off and nothing happens, tv is still muted.
Does your TV have a "half-mute" setting:
* press MUTE once to reduce the volume to 50%
* press MUTE a second time to reduce the volume to zero
* press MUTE a third time to restore the volume to 100%

The OSD consists of several menu options: Picture Adjust, Audio Adjust, TV Tuner Setup, Parental Controls,PIP Set Up, or Special Features. When in the TV menu, select the Audio Adjust and make sure the mute is off. It may be worth checking the manual which is avialble from: http://www.vizio.com/downloads.aspx

Problem solved It was the setup HD needed to set on analog not digital. It is a cable box /cable issue

Try the 991 code, press tv+ code set+991 then alternate between tv and power stop as soon as the tv respond then press enter , could take up to a 100 try since it goes thru all the codes. have fun

Unfortunately this is a feature built into the software of the set and there is no way to get rid of it. Thanks for using fixya though.

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.
If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.
