Hi all - we bought this TV over 10 years ago and it has been a terrific tv. Lately tho the picture will simply flicker to black for a second or two and then flip back to a normal picture. Picture is crisp and clear just flips to black for a few seconds. It used to be really sporadic but the flipping to black and then back to the normal picture is getting more and more frequent. What is causing this? Can/should it be fixed?
Find the fix here... http://www.pechorin.com/m/2004/03/09/Sony_Trinitron_display_malfunction_HELP-210431-2.html
Hi There,
Does it seem to be staying black longer? Are there any unusual sounds associated with it?

it does seem to be staying black longer and the flickering seems to be happening faster. the sound is perfectly fine - it keeps going even without a picture. when the picture returns or flickers back it seems perfectly fine - no odd colors or lines or anything.
thanks so much for your help,
Casie
I'm having the same exact problem. Look forward to a possible solution.
I have the same problem except my screen is totally black now. How much is to change the video output circuit. The tv is 12 yrs old. Is it worth it to get it fix or buy a new one
Same problem. Television is also about 10 years old. Started during the first 15 minutes, now it does it all the time.
Same problem, TV is also about 10 years old.
I'm having the same problem with my picture going black.
It appears to happen more when I first turn on the set, and the longer it is on it happens less frequently. Also when the picture goes black the green Video 1 is displayed in the upper left hand corner. The sound and the picture are fine, other than when the screen goes black.
