Bi-Metal

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the bi-metal actuator might be burned out or defective. The bi-metal is a simple metal loop which acts as a latch for the dispenser door. As electricity is applied to the metal loop, the loop deforms and bends away from the latch, releasing it. If the bi-metal is burned out it won't deform or release the detergent door.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher including the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser will not actuate the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Usualy if it is some years the ball bearing on the motor shaft are rusty and if you can desasemble and use a UD40 lubricant or similar it can be fixed, or replace the bearing. One more posible case is the starting capacitor if it replaced can run the motor again.

Salt light won't go out in a Miele Dishwasher

As per other thread, descale machine with kettle descaler in the dispenser instead of powder, then run the machine through a cycle with nothing in the dispenser. The salt chamber sensor will eventually clear, but make sure you don't overfill with salt.

Why does my softner never use much salt?

That is hard to say Lewis. How much is not much? Salt usage depends on the frequency of regeneration. This is dependent on the water chemistry, usage (metered or time clock), salt dosage and the capacity of the water treatment system. I have customers that go through 280 lbs of salt per year and others that go through 150 per month. Some of these customers are very heavy water users, 2000+gallons of water per day in a private residence. While others won't use 2000 in a month with the same amount of people.
I would suggest you have the water tested to make sure it is soft. If it is then the system is OK. Although I would suggest that if you do not use much water to only fill the salt tank about 1/2 full to avoid mushing and/or bridging of salt in the tank.

My pool is cloudy and I added clarifier and it still won't clear. I checked the salt count and it's reading 1100 ppm. We have a 15 foot round 48 inch deep pool. I also shock the pool weekly...

1st... Your salt count should be at 3000 ppm... For your size pool, the start-up salt needed should be about 95 to 110 lbs..
2nd... Run your pump for 24 hrs without the chlorinator after you have reached the 3000 ppm to properly disolve the salt and use only "pool salt"
3rd... Set your pump at 12 hrs and your chlorinator at 10 to 11 of those hrs until you have reached the desired chlorine level.
4th.. After your pool water has cleared, within 2 to 3 days...clean your chlorinator electrolytic cell and adjust your time down to maintain the proper chlorine level..

Hope this helps and if it does, please rate and comment....
Good Luck!!!

Will Neff dishwashers work without salts and liquid?

While salts are not required, if you don't have water it won't clean your plates very good, and will also burn our your pumps.

I don't have a problem, just a question. I recently purchased a home with a GE Smartwater softening system installed Model GXSF23Z01. What do I need to do to maintain this system. Does it require salt?...

Check the time of day, and make sure it's accuate. Reset if necessary. Add salt if it's low. It's always best to let the salt level run low (about 1-2") so it doesn't mush. Only add 80-100 lbs at a time for best results. This particular softener doesn't keep a water level in the tank, so you won't see any water in the salt area. If there is standing water in the salt area, that could mean it's not working the way it should. Here is a link to the owners manual. It's in PDF format
