Wall oven will not light

My wall oven will not light. The glow plug seems to light and the gas is on, however no gas seems to be getting to the glow plug.

Remove the flame spreader panel to access the ignitor.
Place a clamp on amp meter on the ignitor wire and turn the oven on.
If you read less than 2.9 amps, replace the ignitor.
If you read 2.9 to 3.2 amps replace the gas safety valve.

SOURCE: The Glow Plug is glowing, but oven will not light up.

Hi,

This may sound strange but it is most often the glow plug that is bad. What happens is as the ignitor (glow plug) ages the resistance internally rises, this rise gets to a point where it limits the electrical current just enough that the valve no longer opens.

I smell gas when I turn on my oven. I replaced the gas line but have the same result.

Your Maytag wall oven is equipped with
pilotless ignition. Heat from the Glow Bar
ignitor lights the oven burner. With this type of
ignition system, the oven will not operate
during a power failure or if the wall oven is
disconnected from the wall outlet.

if it is plugged in and everything, your glow bar may be broken, which would mean you will either need to replace it, or get professional service.

Oven never gets to set temp.

Hi,

This is the sign of a weak ignitor, even though it is glowing it has gotten weak and not letting enough current get to the valve to open.

You will need to have the ignitor replaced.

I bought a used 24 inch GE gas wall oven, changed it over from natural gas to lp and it will not ignite they glow red but no flame

Many times, unless you have the universal, the orficies have to be changed. From nat to LP. they do make a universal type.

Oven not igniting

Very common problem, the ignitor or glow coil heats up but no gas comes out. For me for the last 12 years this repair has always been a weak ignitor. Call your parts store with the model number and check prices on the exact part and on any generic ignitors for this unit. Replace the ignitor and this should do the job. This can be a bad valve not letting the gas through, but again I have never seen that and I replace 4-6 ignitors a week. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Our Frigidaire 24 in wall oven won't light. The igniter glows but there appears to not be any gas present.

The ignitor is weak and needs to be replaced. You can not tell by looking at it. You have to measure the amp draw through the ignitor.
