My samsung silvercare front load washer was in the spin cycle of a towel wash and stopped working. the no drain code was flashing I think. I swtched to rinse and spin only and it won't do anything and the door remains locked. no codes. it hums when I try to start any cycle.
Here is the most common cause for this problem, according to the Samsung repair guy that was here to fix mine today.
On these washing machines it is possible for some debris (in my case it was a small screw from my packet) to make its way passed the drum and into the pump. Once this happens then the impeller of the pump becomes restricted or completely blocked which will result in the above mentione symptoms.
On some machines the pump is on the front, on others at the rear of the machine. In my case it was at the rear, removing the rear panel will allow easy access to it. Have a bucket ready, when the hose is removed from the pump the water will be draining from the machine. 3 bolts and a hose clamp on the inlet and another on the outlet hose. Disconnect the electrical plug from the pump and you can remove it from the machine for cleaning. A very easy job, requiring little skills and not much in terms of tools. (make sure machine is UNPLUGGED from AC outlet)
Remove obstruction(s) from pump and reinstall in reverse order of disassembly. The guy says these pumps are really tough so if you hear it buzzing, trying to go while it's jammed it's a good sign it will work. If not, replacement will be necessary.
Cost me $140. Could have been worse I suppose. Advise: Empty pockets BEFORE washing clothes...
My wife uses color sheets in the wash. Guess what jammed up the impeller! It was thin enough to get to the pump intake and wrapped around the impeller blades. Thanks for the tip!!! Saved a bunch of time and money on this fix! Plus made me look good ! ;-)
In regards to solution #1. AWESOME!!!! After much doubt, prayer and sanity breaks, right when I thought at 10pm and 2 hrs I should have called for help; the cause was found. The solution in #1 was absolutely right. When I finally got to the little small motor house, there was a 25 cent quarter that was causing the problem. It must have been there for a little while because the tarnish stain I've been noticing on the white of certain inside parts of the detergent holder makes sence. Oh and being ready for retained wash water is an understatement. If you can use a shop vac to connect to catch the water will definitely save the many towels and small bucket of water clean up I made for myself. Definately glad I unplugged from the electrical power. My panel was located in the back of my washer. Wish I could post a pic because it definitely would be worth a thousand words. So thankful to God that I found the problem and could fix it. Just had to post especially when I think of how much money I've been able to save by not calling a technician out to repair. Thanks again to solution #1 written 3 years ago, but still priceless. Glad I did a search and found FixYa. Will definitely be one of my save pages!
Haha awesome, just stumbled on this thread, tried it and solution 1 WORKED! :P
In my case it was a sock. A SOCK!
Your pump is probably jammed. Something got past the drum gasket and lodged in the pump. I've had to fix mine several times. Pull the plug and take a shop vac to the drain hose. apply suction until all of the water is drained. From the back remove the panel and find the pump held in by 3 bolts. Remove the hoses, bolts, power plug and remove the pump. take the screws out of the pump noting how each is positioned. When you open the pump you'll see what jammed it up. If you are lucky, you will find the culprit without taking the pump apart. Usually it will be a coin. Good luck.

Mine has done the same thing AND the door is locked so I can't get the clothes out. The repairman can't come for 4 more days so I guess those will stay in there and mildew until then. It is only 2 years old.
I am having the problem where my Samsung washer will not drain, and my first thought was a jammed drain pump. But in that case I was expecting to hear the pump humming as it tried to turn. Instead, when it should be draining nothing happens. No sound, no draining, no drain pump running. I already cleaned out the debris filter (there really wasn't anything in there). Any ideas?
