Decreased water flow from Moen shower faucet

My one knob moen shower faucet is experiencing reduced flow.  This has occured gradually over time.  Is it possible that I need to replace the cartridge unit in the valve?  Are there any other things I should look for?  The knob pulls out and goes back in smoothly, has full range of twist to hot and cold, and I've taken off the knob and removed the cover plate.  There are no leaks and the valve body looks fine.
thanks!

I should have mentioned that the reduced flow is the same from the showerhead and the tub fixture; both have reduced flow.

I would bet it's not the faucet at all, it's the showerhead. Remove it and look inside the hole, there is probably sediment built up in there.
Just clean it out and reinstall.

Moen Positemp Shower - little or no flow after several years?

Test the flow of water with the showerhead removed (through the shower arm). If you are getting good flow through the shower arm- clean the showerhead to remove any debris and replace if necessary. If there is still no flow, replace the cartridge.

Hello. We have a Moen two handle tub/shower faucet. A little over a year ago it started to make a high pitched noise when on. Now the water flow to both the tub and shower are greatly reduced for BOTH...

sounds like the diverter inside the valve body is cloged with debris.

only wat to remedy this is to remove the valve and clean out the diverter, or just replace the valve.

I have a moen 1 knob push-pull faucet for my tub/shower. When I push it in sometimes water continues to drip. It is probably 30 years old. Are their replacement parts for it?

The old MOEN single handle faucets like youve described usualy took a 1200 or 1225 cartridge. Both are available at most of your big home improvement stores. The answer to your question is yes MOEN parts are still avail. Hope this helps. If this advise is helpful, please give me a vote.

Moen shower/tub faucet

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.
