The drain pump only turns 1 turn counterclockwise and clicks to a stop. What happened?

I replaced the belt. Thanks for the solution. The real problem seems to be the drain pump. It was running noisy. Then it froze up. I think. When facing the wheel, it turns freely when I spin it clockwise. It will only spin counterclockwise about 1 turn and then it clicks to a stop. If I turn it clockwise less than a turn, I can turn it back about a turn counterclockwise. The motor spins counterclockwise. The agitator wheel will move the tub if I turn it counterclockwise. I take it the drain pump is broken (I think). That is what I am inquiring about for advice. Am I correct? Also, I would also like to know what happened. I would like a perspective before I buy the pump. First of all, what happened? Am I correct in that it should turn counterclockwise? Or am I assessing the situation incorrectly? Thank you. MikieM

To check the pump you should remove it from the washer and try to rotate its pulley manually to both sides. If it doesn't turn freely (frozen or stiff) look for foreign object inside the pump. In case the pump is clean and doesn't turn freely, you should replace it/ Good luck !

Stops in cycle, not sure if its when rinsing? I notice it stops and an error code of OE ?

This error code OE means the tub is not fully drained 10 minutes after the drain pump is turned on.This is possibly due to a clogged/kinked drain hose or the drain filter is blocked. Make sure the drain hose is clear then open the filter door located at the bottom left front of the machine. Drain the remaining water from the tub through the emergency drain hose located in the filter door area. Once completely drained, turn the knob counterclockwise then pull out and clean the filter. Reach in the pump impeller area and turn it with your finger. Replace the drain pump if the filter is clear and the impeller is broken or restricted and cannot be freed.

Need replace power steering pump

This is how the steps on how to changepower steering pump on GMC K1500. First you have to disconnect the battery byturning the positive terminal bolt counterclockwise and removing the lead. Thendisconnect the lower power steering line by turning the line nutcounterclockwise. Allow the pump to drain in the drain pan. Once the pump isdrained, disconnect the upper line by turning the line nut counterclockwise. 2. But on older models, turn the adjustmentmount bolt counterclockwise until the tension on the primary drive belt isrelieved. Remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley. Remove theremaining mount bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Maneuver the pump fromthe engine. 3. On newer models, press the tensionpulley arm to slacken the belt enough to slide it from underneath the idlepulley wheel. Release the tension pulley arm. There should then be enough slackto take the belt from the power steering pump pulley. It may be necessary toremove the A/C compressor on some models. Remove it by having it evacuated ofall freon, removing the wiring harness adapter plug, removing the line nuts, and then turning the mount bolts counterclockwise; taking the compressor outgives improved access to the power steering pump. Remove the pump by using thespecialized tool (available for rent at an auto parts store) to turn the centermount bolt counterclockwise. Maneuver the pump from the engine compartment. 4. Replace the pump and attach the mountbolts by turning them clockwise. Reattach the line nuts by turning themclockwise. Replace the drive belt by the tension pulley method (serpentinebelts), or using the adjustment bolt to pull the pump to the desired belttension. Replace the fluid to the proper cold level. 5. Reconnect the battery by attaching thelead and turning the positive terminal bolt clockwise.

How to replace the power steering pump on a 2001 Pontiac Aztec

Welcome to Fixya

here's the procedure on how to replace water pump of your car

  • 1 Turn the belt tensioner pulley counterclockwise on the 3.4L modeal. Use a breaker bar and a socket to rotate the center bolt on the tensioner pulley. If you have a 3.5L engine model, turn the pulley clockwise.

  • 2 Slide the drive belt off the steering pump pulley.
  • 3 Detach the black ground cable from the battery using a wrench.
  • 4 Position a drain pan under the car in the direction of the steering pump hoses.
  • 5 Move any wire brackets near the steering pump out of the way using a wrench or ratchet and socket, if necessary.
  • 6 Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump by loosening the clamp at the steering pump using a ratchet and socket. Then pull the hose off the pump and let the steering fluid drain into the pan.
  • 7 Detach the pressure hose from the steering pump by unscrewing the retaining nut at the pump using a tube wrench. Let the steering fluid drain on the pan.
  • 8 Unscrew the steering-pump mounting bolts using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
  • 9 Lift the power steering pump off the engine compartment.
  • Install the New Steering Pump
  • 1 Position the new steering pump in place and start the mounting bolts by hand. Then tighten the bolts using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
  • 2 Attach the pressure hose to the steering pump by starting the retaining nut by hand. Then tighten the nut using the tube wrench.
  • 3 Connect the return hose to the steering pump. Then tighten the clamp using the ratchet and socket.
  • 4 Reinstall any wire brackets you had to remove using a wrench or ratchet and socket.
  • 5 Connect the black ground cable to the battery using a wrench.
  • 6 Install the drive belt by turning the tensioner pulley counterclockwise using the breaker bar and socket. Then slide the belt over the steering pump pulley. If you have the Aztek 3.5L engine, turn the tensioner pulley clockwise.
  • 7 Reinstall any wire brackets you had to remove form near the steering pump using the wrench or ratchet and socket.
  • 8 Connect the black, ground cable to the battery using a wrench.
  • Bleed the Power Steering System
  • 1 Refill the steering fluid reservoir with new steering fluid. Make sure the level reaches the Full Cold mark on the reservoir.
  • 2 Raise the front of the vehicle using a floor jack until the front tires are off the ground. Then support the car on 2 jack stands.
  • 3 Turn the ignition key to the On position but do not start the engine.
  • 4 Turn the steering wheel fully from left to right 15 times.
  • 5 Check the fluid level in the steering reservoir and add if necessary.
  • 6 Lower the vehicle and start the engine. Turn the steering wheel and listen for steering noises. If you hear noises while turning the steering wheel, repeat steps 2 through 5 of the bleeding procedure to get rid of the air in the steering system. Turn off the engine.

    Washer does nor drain

    hELLO THERE:
let me explain this as best i can so please read the entire post ok?
Sometimes the most obvious answers are the first ones overlooked. If the tub isn't draining, first check the drain system. Check the drain hose to make sure it isn't kinked. Also check any lint filter that may be installed. On some Whirlpool/Kenmore models, there is also a side-check valve at the tub outlet that can get clogged.
There aren't too many things that can go wrong with a pump. The pump bearings can seize, stopping it from turning. The pump can be jammed by socks or other small items. The impeller blades can break off due to junk entering the pump; if this happens, the pump may seize up, or it may just stop pumping. The usual solution is to replace the pump.
But the symptoms of a pump failure are something else altogether. If the pump locks up, and the motor is still trying to turn it, something's gotta give. If the pump is belt-driven (as it is in many washers) the pulley driving the pump may shear off, or the belt may break. The belt may ride over the locked pulley, or the motor pulley will continue turning under the belt; this will burn the belt and possibly break it. There may even be enough tension on the belt to stop the motor from turning.
The symptoms can be confusing. For example, a common complaint about a Whirlpool belt-drive washer is that it isn't spinning, accompanied by a strong burning smell. The problem is almost always a pump that's locked up. The washer doesn't enter the spin cycle because the spin is interlocked with the drain cycle. This means that the basket won't start spinning until the water is partially drained. The burning smell comes from the rubber belt, which is riding over the motor pulley or locked pump pulley.
NOTE: If you EVER find a broken belt, check for a locked pump, transmission or other pulley before replacing the belt.
If you suspect that something is jamming the pump, drain the tub and pull the hoses off the pump. Look into the hoses and the pump and pull out whatever is jamming it. If you can't see anything jamming the pump, feel around the inside of the pump inlets and outlets with a pair of needlenose pliers. If all else fails, and you still can't find the jam, pull the pump out of the machine and check it.

4cyl 2000 honda accord engine stalls while idling, recently died and will only start for short periods... possible problems/solutions?

check for spark and fuel after it dies.

If there is spark but no fuel, then the fuel pump may be bad or a clogged fuel filter.

If there is fuel but not spark, then the ignition control module or the ignition coil could be bad.

Also, check that the timing belt is timing the engine correctly.

    Remove PW steering hose

    Hi,

    The tools required are :-

    • Large crescent wrench
    • Small crescent wrench
    • Drain pan
    • Shop towel
A Generic Procedure ( This example is for Other brand but might help you, if needed ) is :-

    Step 1

The power steering pump is located on the right fire wall of your vehicle. Place the drain pan directly under the power steering pump and use your small crescent wrench to open the drain plug by turning it counterclockwise until removed. Take care that the car has had time to cool so that you do not burn yourself with the hot fluid. Allow the fluid to drain until it is slowly dripping.

    Step 2

Use your large crescent wrench to turn the power steering line nut counterclockwise until it is completely loose. The line will not come off at this point.

    Step 3

Use your large crescent wrench to turn the bottom power steering line nut counterclockwise until free. Pull slightly upward and free the line from its seat. Both ends of the line will now come free and the line is removed.

    Step 4

To replace the line, use the same procedure in reverse. Put the drain plug back in and add the appropriate amount of fluid.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
