Its says that i need to close down programs using the cam but we did
I suggest you try this as well as the latest drivers:
Download Splitcam from www.splitcamera.com
Install it, run it, click on the Video button and select your webcam. Click on the on button. You will see your face.
Now go to Skype>Tools>Options>Video Setting and select Splitcam as your webcam.
It worked for me! I got this off a skype message forum!!! Bill was the guy who posted on it, he rules!
If you can see your face on split cam it will work on Skype! My Aiptek pencam 2 is over 9 years old and it works!
First off verify that your PC is connecting with your cam. (Proper drives installed)
Second,Make sure you have the latest version of Skype installed, as the older
versions don't seem to respond well to cam's. (personal experience)
Last,(skype) go to Tools/ Options/ Calls/ Video Settings
--There is a drop down menu, make sure you have your cam selected instead of the default view. That should fix your problem, as skype is probably not trying to use your cam as a viewing source.

Skpye will not recognize my Aiptek Pencam ?
It says that I need to close down programs using the cam. I did this and still
it didn’t recognize it.
I followed your advice to an earlier
posting on the same problem. My webcam is connected to my PC and is working ok.
I have the latest version of Skype
installed – 4.0.0.215
Then in Skype I went to Tools/ Options/
Calls/ Video Settings
But there is no drop down menu, to select my
cam instead of the default view, as you wrote on the same problem before.
