need to clean the bellow ( rubber around door). theres a tablet you can buy called "Affresh". It will help to remove the moldy smell. just throw it in washer and run through a regular wash cycle. no clothes, just the tablet. If there is a clean cycle on the machine then use that cycle. Whenever you're finished washing, you should leave the door open for about 20-30 minutes so unit can air out. Also you should wipe around the glass and bellow after each use.
The problem may be standing water in the discharge hose. If this is the case unplug the machine and remove the hose from the back of the machine, and water will poor out. If you smell mold from the hose, this could be the cause. Rinse the hose out thoroughly with bleach, if its a corrugated hose they are prone to standing water inside and you may want to replace it with a non- corrugated hose. I suggest you run the machine when hose is re- attached with only bleach a couple of times and leave the washer door ajar to completely dry the inside of the drum afterwards, too.
I hope this helps you!
Good luck!
try putting in 2 caps of a citrus or pine bleech straight in to the drum with some old rags. then select a boil wash. the rags will spray the water around the tub, the bleech will clean the tub and make it smell fresh. DON'T put any clothing in whilst doing this. if you are worried about bleech in the machine just select a rinse cycle after. i do this once every 3 months
Hi Jewel, You may want to try some Washer Magic, or similar product specifically designed to clean out washing machines. I personally use Affresh in my front loader and it works very well.
try running it throgh a cycle with nothing but hot water and bleach let set for a couple of minutes between cycles with water in it may have to do a couple of times
moldy smell, may not be mold at all, in fact most "moldy musty" smells actually come from user not using proper detergents, you NEED to be using an HE detergent and little amounts of that even. cut back on fabric \softneer if using, www.affresh.com new product to help alleviate this issue
