Makes ice and dispenses water fine, but will not dispense the ice - maybe motor went out? Is only 1-1/2 years old, when you depress ice dispense pad, it hums slightly, but no indication it's going to dispense ice. No sound of motor working - shouldn't this last longer than 18 mos.? Have cleaned out bin and made sure blades were not obstructed.
My unit suddenly started melting the ice into a solid block all the way through the crusher. It turned out to be the trap door getting hungup from opening too far. There are 2 screws behind he slide out shelf . Remove these and the the icemaker cover rotates to the right. You may have to remove the selonoide to adjust the travel and then reassemble.
Ice maker got stuck, took it out and get rid of ice build up, put it back turn water supply on, still not making ice. did i missed anything
We had this problem after a power outage let the freezer thaw a bit. Some water had gotten down to the auger motor, freezing it up. Revoved the cover underneath the auger motor (bottom of a shelf inside the door) and hit it with a hair dryer for about 30 seconds. Worked like a charm.
If nothing is blocking ager .. sounds like motor bad or something binding it up. If you took in out and cleaned all ice out and still dont work with no ice.. sounds like motor ..if it hums power is to motor
If the motor is humming, Take the ice bin out, rinse the bottom shaft connection with warm water, it may just have ice build up.

I have the same problem with my side by side whirlpool GS6NVEXSL water dispences fine makes allot of ice but will not dispence the ice. it hums opens the door but nothing comes out.Hopefully someone can advise on problem only had the fridge for 14 months and of course its warrnety expired after 12 months
same problem with my side by side. Water works, ice makes fine, but will not dispense. Just over one year old.
I have the same problem, the IR sensor seems to work fine and the pressure switch is working. The dispenser door even opens and closes, so I assume it is the motor. Is it normal for them to only last 18 months?
We have the same problem. Fridge is about 16 months old. Pushed the control to get ice....forget it. Guess it means it's only good for 18 months.....Whirlpool doesn't seem to care. Sent them a note and they said they couldn't diagnose via email. Funny, you all can.

I've had this fridge going years now and the ice maker is not working, it makes the ice but when i push the tab to dispense the ice i can hear the motor, the flap opens but no ice. What is the problem? I would love to kow.
What can I say. About 2 years old and having the same syptoms as everyone else. I am going to look for a diagram to see how hard to fix and cost of motor. May try hair drier trick as we had power out for 1 week. I maker messed up for a while so can not remember if it quit working around that time.
