Horizontal White Lines in Pictures

Hi, Can anyone help? After leaving our camara to be x-ray and stored at a museum, now there are horizontal white lines across all the pictures. When looking through the screen before taking the picture it looks fine, but in play back mode they come up. They also appear when downloaded. The videomode shows no problems and doesn't have this issue at all.

I was using my camera last night and I have the same exact problem. I get horizontal white lines in my photographs and don't know why. It's perfect when looking through and when I zoom in a little bit (in the playback mode), but the initial photograph is divided into lines.

Horizontal White Lines in viewfinder when I view a picture taken. Canon S230. Probably same error as Fuji? Been a very reliable camera up until now. Chuck it? Or is there a fix?

I don't think [and the museum will certainly say] This has anything to do with the X-ray/storage whilst in the museums hands. It could be a processing error or a memory card error. Try formatting the card in the camera and taking a new batch of images Try another card. This will estasblish card or camera. If card - buy another card If camera -checxk on the price of a repair but I suspect it will mean when you see the price Buy another camera

Photos come with horizontal stripes and too bright

Hello naushed,

I had the same issue with the white horizontal lines with myCanon Powershot series camera too. When taking pictures, I get the horizontal lines. In daylight, I almost cannot see the pictures because it gives me very bright output. In darker areas, the picture can still be toleratedbut white lines are still there. Although when I am taking a video, the quality is good.

I was able to read that there is one part insidethe camera's mechanism that is faulty. Its a CCD problem. You should bring this to a CanonAuthorized service center and they should replace and fix the faultypart, free of charge. I got my Camera fixed for FREE! I was able to do macro shots again.Trust me and go to canon. What I did is to print this advisory fromcanon itself. And show it to them.
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8288&keycode=2112&id=29819

As part of their advisory:

"Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon willrepair, free of charge, the products listed above exhibiting theabove-mentioned malfunction if Canon determines that the malfunction iscaused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost ofshipping and handling in connection with this repair.
"

Hope this helps.

Photos taken on zoom have white horizontal lines across them. Photos taken at normal zoom are OK.

Hi!
It sounds like that the shutter cable inside lens is partially broken. It moves with the lens while it zooms, so it could loose contact while stretched - when you have zoomed the lens. Z750 and Z850 have this problem with shutter cable - it breaks. The white horizontal lines are because shutter doesn't work. I'm afraid the cable will brake soon and pictures will be too bright with white horizontal lines even at normal zoom. It is considered a hard repair - the shutter part or whole lens unit has to be changed. You can contact your local Casio service center and ask the price, but it will probably be very high. I work in a Casio service center and new lens for this camera costs about 250$. It's not a good idea to put on used lens or shutter, as it will brake again sometime - it's just a matter of time. I suggest you get another camera.

Hope this helps!

Canon UXUS i pc 1060 pictures bleached white

Hi,

I've got the same problem.

Happened just two months ago. I was outside taking pictures by a campfire, so I wonder if the smoke had something to do with it.

Movie mode is fine, but regular photos are either all white or with strange horizontal lines, not clear at all.

I'm going to open it up and reseat all the connections.

Anything else to try?

Anyone else have this problem or know what to do?
