To flash the excitor circuit on a coleman ( the generator is built by generac) you need a 12 volt battery. You quickly apply 12 volts via your 120vac recepticals. NO MORE THAN ONE OR TWO SECONDS! Then check you ac voltage. Most of the time the brushes are burnt up when voltage is low. Check the brushes first. You can access them by taking the end cap off of the generator via two to four screws. The brush holder is easy to spot, two wires leading to the front of the amature. Hope this solves your problem.

I have a coleman powermate 6250-5000 running watts-generator. The generator starts and runs but does not produce current to outlets,the outlets are fine-they have continunity,I removrd the armature and...

You may have just lost residual magnetism in your rotor. Start genset then apply 12 vdc to 120 v outlet for less the 1 seconds. This will be enought to restore the residual magnetism to the rotor and the unit should be producing power now.

I have a coleman proseries 5000 power generator, (portable) Engine works great but no power comes out....what could it be?

Search google for 'flashing a generator". It may have lost it's "magnetism" if it has been sitting too long.

I have a coleman 5000 that runs fine but it stops producing power after it runs for a couple of minutes.

Same answer as the last time you asked, likely a flying open. If the rotor test proves that your rotor isn't opening up, test the capacitor on brushless models or the voltage regulator board on brush generators.

Coleman Powermate 5000 no electricity, runs fine

Hello;
Take a look at your outlets. Some of these units use pretty cheap outlets and short out. You will know if it is bad when you look at it. Hope this helps.

Coleman 5000 generater-no AC output

Try replacing the capacitor. You can buy it from http://www.jackssmallengines.com/do_it_home.html. When you pull off the power end of the generator look at the diodes also. If they look toasted replace them as well
