Vizio VO47L 47 in. LCD TV Logo
Posted on Mar 30, 2009

Picture is now a series of moving bars, can't get proper picture

4 month old 47" Vizio LCD TV has gone bad. Vizio says I did not buy from authorized dealer therefore no warranty. Hope to get some help from retailer Monday.
Picture is a series of moving horizontal bars of color. Can't get anything else to happen with menu button or channel change. I am hoping for a simple fix, would like some help to narrow down. Thanks Bob

Vizio vo47L 47" LCD. No

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

More specifically on #1 and #2 - capacitors either bulging, leaking, or exploded.

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

Vizio 47" lcd no picture no sound has power

this could be one of two problem. first, check if you have back light. If you do then the problem is with the M/B. Second, if you don't have back light then the inverter is bad and needs to be replace.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
