Increasing lines... Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite A105. Just recently the screen started having problems. It will work fine for a little bit and then randomly lines will start to appear on my screen. When the lines come up, my computer freezes, but with a simple re-adjustment of the screen, battery, or actual computer itself they goe away...only to continue on an off until finally the whole screen is covered and I have to restart my computer. I can use it with no problem for a few days and then it will randomly start up again. I can not tell if the problem is in the screen, motherboard, etc. It seems like every time I want to stop the problem, I have to adjust a different part of the computer. Also, I think my fan may be fried or slow. My computer seems to make a burning smell, even when it has only been on for a few minutes. Could this be related?! Thank you in advance for the help, I've just been really frustrated with this problem.

If you think it is overheat, I could say yes since I don't see the stuff.. and the screen lines is indicating that your VGA is affected or maybe only the driver..you have done some simple observation, and I guess to test it you have to format your computer first, see..if the problem occur again, then you have to contact the support center for hardware assistance

The screen on my toshiba A105 satellite laptop appears to be going but not sure. at times, display is shakey with small horizontal white lines going across. when I wiggle or tweak the screen a little bit...

I use LaptopAid, a reliable and efficient company on Ebay that sells all manner of laptop hardware. I would highly recommend them for all of your hardware needs. I would start with the inverter, as it is the cheapest the buy, and if that doesn't work get the LCD. These are both good pieces of hardware to have spare, and also your model is fairly common so selling them wouldn't be an issue either if you wanted.

My Toshiba Satellite A105 screen comes on for a little bit, flickers and then shuts off. However I can faintly see the screen, and the laptop works fine when hooked up to the external monitor. Wondering...

If you can still view screen if you view it in an angle or spot a flashlight on screen. Then, definitely it is a problem on backlighting, might be loose connection, inverter giving up or cfl giving up.

Hope this helps

Toshiba Satellite A105 Display

If you've replaced the LCD Panel already, then chances are good, the failing part may be the FLR inverter. It's a thin little chip about 3 or 4 inches in length that bridges the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. It's location varies from computer to computer though, so you may have to check with manufacturer documentation. They're not too terribly expensive to replace though, much cheaper than the LCD panel, anyways.

I had to replace my Toshiba A105 screen recently due to damage. I installed the new screen myself and it worked fine for a while, but now it has a pink vertical line about an inch thick running down the...

Ok then, take it apart again and make sure all the connections are well seated, check the inverter (circuit board under the screen) the ribbon cable that goes behind the the screen and the block connector that attaches to the motherboard. If all theses connections are well seated and you still get the pink line, the screen is defective and you need to send it back.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Display

If you've got exacttly the same each time you're start, then the VGA card has issue, or even the motherboard and CPU.

If not then try to chock the base of the screen with two fingers when starting, if nothing happen try to chock the middle of the keyboard and several spot around it. (it's a little bit brutal but the easiest way to find a bad contact or dead components)
If you feel like open it then this website will help you:
