I have remove all the attributes of the mdb file. Now i have uploaded this mdb file on internet and my web page is generating the following error. .......................................... Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09' Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. /malsha/CreatePricingCategory.asp, line 109 ..........................................
I had such a similar problem too with tale editor..i tried everything to no avail. then i studied the program SOLUTION: try giving full rights to IUSR or guestin the following files 1...ur data base 2....the asp page that tries to change database settings 3...the applicatin itself has a database change the rights there too MOE [email protected]
When putting files up on your hosted site (or on your own server), make sure the file and the directory have the proper writes to Read/Write/Create. A special file called the .LDB file must be created and if it can't a ReadOnly status could be issued. It's a file that contains the names of the users currently accessing the MDB file. It stands for Lock Database.
If you are running on Windows add these attributes, if it's linux (not sure why you'd use MDB on a LINUX box, but it would be chmod +777.
This worked for me in a similar situation; make a copy of the .mdb file in the same folder. Delete the original .mdb file and rename the copy with the name you used for the original. This should get rid of the read-only aspect. Good luck.
